To qualify for these two events is a huge achievement with only the very best ranked swimmers in Great Britain at the Aquatics GB competition and the top swimmers in the country at the Swim England gala.

A special mention must go to Josh Shepherd who achieve a DOUBLE BRITISH GOLD! An outstanding performance which sets Josh up perfectly as he moves on to Ohio University in the US for a swimming scholarship next month.

Tonight we’re all behind ‘Fantastic Freddie’ as he lines up in the 1500m heats at the European U18 Championships in Rieti, Italy.

Freddie joined our sixth form this year from Hall Mead School and, alongside representing Havering AC, has already become an inspirational member of our school community as Cross Country Captain.

In recent months he has achieved an extraordinary list of accomplishments:

- London Mini Marathon Champion
- Youngest-ever winner of the Sir Roger Bannister Mile in 4:00.88, becoming the third-fastest British U18 miler in history behind only Steve Ovett and Steve Cram
- Winner of the Loughborough International 1500m representing Great Britain Juniors
- A sensational 1500m PB of 3:40.26 at the Birmingham Grand Prix, making him the second-fastest British U18 athlete of all time, just 0.17 seconds shy of Steve Cram’s record

Talent alone doesn’t take you to this level. Freddie’s success is built on relentless dedication, humility and an outstanding work ethic, and we couldn’t be prouder to see him competing on the European stage.

As we did with ‘Amazing Abbie Ives’ and ‘Super Steph Okoro’ at previous World, European and Youth Commonwealth Games , we hope the entire CCCS community will get behind Freddie tonight.

In the year that we were named the Number 1 State School for Sport in England for the second consecutive year, and 10th of all state and public schools (our highest ever ranking!), there has clearly been a great deal of success at all levels for so many students.

This year there has seen 817 FIXTURES involving 829 STUDENTS , culminating in over 10,000 STUDENT REPRESENTATIONS in 18 SPORTS!!!!! Phenomenal stats for a fantastic year!

It has been great to see our year 7 students finish their first year of sport at the school with the CCCS Commonwealth Games during this week’s Activities Week. Following an opening ceremony, students took part in a variety of activities throughout the day, showing great teamwork and respect to their opponents throughout. Well done to all that took part and congratulations to our champions each day!

As the CCCS 2026 summer Athletics season comes to an end, congratulations to the students that have claimed school records and sports day records to make a mark on CCCS athletics history. The challenge is now on for next year to see how many can be taken…!

Six of our elite athletes attended the English Schools Track and Field Championships last weekend in Birmingham. This is the most significant achievement for any student each and every year, and we are very proud of them for their selection to represent Essex Schools.

Simeon performed well in the heats of Senior Boys 110m Hurdles, Joel qualified for the final of the Senior Boys 100m and Ayla finished 6th in the Inter Girls Javelin. Summer came an agonising 4th in the Inter Girls 3000m, and perhaps even more heartbreakingly, Findlay was leading the Senior Boys 800m final until he suffered an injury in the home straight.

Finally, Alice secured a wonderful Long Jump silver medal in the Senior Girls category with an epic 5.70m jump! Congratulations, Alice!

Well done to all six of our wonderful athletes ambassadors - you continue to be such brilliant role models to our sporting community. With five of the six athletes with another year in their age category we are very excited for what next season holds for them!

Despite the soaring temperatures, the energy, enthusiasm and House spirit were unmatched at Sports Day 2026 last week. From the first race to the final relay, students gave everything for their Houses, while the stands were alive with cheers and encouragement throughout the day. A day that truly embodied ‘Love as Brethren’.

A huge congratulations to every competitor who represented their House with pride, and a special thank you to our Captains for their outstanding organisation and leadership.

​The final matches of the season have now been played and it's been another incredibly successful season for the boys tennis programme! Showing true dedication, teamwork, and that irreplaceable 'Love as Brethren' spirit, here is how a sensational summer of tennis wrapped up:

​🥇 U15 Boys A Team: ESSEX DIV 1 CHAMPIONS!
​A massive congratulations to our U15 A squad, who put on an absolute masterclass in the grand final! They defeated KEGS with a flawless 6 sets to 0 victory to claim the title as Essex Champions.
​🌟 What’s next? This incredible win means the boys are marching on to represent CCCS (and the county!) in the Regional Knockouts this September. Good luck to Toby, Kunsh, Dylan and Joe —we are all behind you!

​🥈 U13 Boys A Team: Essex Div 1 Runners-Up!
​The U13 boys fought hard all season against the toughest competition in the county to finish as Essex Division 1 Runners-Up. A brilliant achievement boys - well done!

​🥈 U13 Boys B Team: Essex Div 2 Runners-Up!
​Talk about drama! In an absolute thriller of a final against Southend Boys A team, our U13 B team had the the fixture completely tied at 3 sets all. It took a nail-biting tie-break shootout to finally decide it, with our B team finishing as incredibly proud Division 2 runners-up. What a fight!

​🥉 U13 Boys C Team: 3rd in Essex Division 2!
​Securing 3rd place right behind our B team in Div 2 is a massive achievement! It proves just how much incredible depth, talent, and passion we have across our entire tennis squad this year.

​To compete against the absolute best schools from across the entire county and come away with silverware across the board is phenomenal.

Congratulations to every single player who stepped onto the court this season - you all did CCCS proud. ❤️ 💙
