We know that big efforts don’t = immediate results
Imagine how wild it would be as an athlete if that was the case… what a bizarre world of sport that would be
We know that basic skills need solid foundations before going all in on the next big skill
The same goes will your physique
Get it out of your head that you will see changes after a week of sticking to the plan
That sh*t takes a while of consistent (and at times, boring) work on yourself
You can grow in so many ways in the meantime for sure
But physique changes take time
Some of your progress may suddenly shoot through the roof
Then it might stop and level out for a while
Then you may start to see smaller changes over a longer period of time
But the point is, it’s happening
You just have to be damn patient and not drop the ball when you believe it ‘isn’t working’
Imagine if I stopped in 2021 when I spent most of it using the same weights in a home environment during lockdown
I certainly wouldn’t be half of who I am now
Physically, mentally, the lot
If you have wanted to, or even THOUGHT about giving up because you aren’t seeing results quick enough
Don’t, just don’t
You might just need a helping hand…

Can I tell you something?
Sometimes I can’t be arsed
I cba to go train and would rather stay in bed a bit longer
I can’t be bothered to finish off all the sets of an exercise
I don’t fancy making an effort with nutrition
I really sometimes just don’t want to, there’s no other explanation and no excuse to it
And this isn’t some ‘discipline’ mantra sh*t I’m gonna throw at you
I will always remember a line from one of my gym coaches when it came to conditioning, maybe we’d not finished the reps the sets or executed them well (trust me when I say you DON’T want to be caught out cheating in conditioning omggggg iykyk)
She would say “okay but you’re only cheating yourself”
Now I get it
No one can force you to do anything
And that’s why accountability can be scary, because you have to own up to s**t you don’t do when you don’t get the result you want
Let’s use the other day as an example
Conditioning I wanted to pack it in
I felt a bit naff… that’s literally it
But I knew I’d be cheating myself and therefore potentially embarrass myself when it comes to Turf Games
I don’t want to reflect and say the reason I haven’t hit my goals is simply because I couldn’t be bothered
Nope, no thank you
It’s a scary thing to admit that the only person that will actually stop you reaching your goals is you
But is that not slightly exciting at the same time?
You have the power to make anything you want happen
If you want it, do everything you can to go and get it 🚀

From early morning diving sessions to working from bed with a coffee

Just like nearly every single athlete I work with, Maia felt like her drive for taking part in sport and training had dwindled, and with that, her strength took a drop too ⬇️
We actually spoke in dms for a while, discussing her new venture into a commercial gym
Trying it with friends, partner but just couldn’t get it to stick consistently with a plan that worked for her
When I know I can help someone, I tell them and that’s exactly how it went
After checking in with her and seeing how the training was going, we realised that little progress had been made alone and actually - the help was needed
We devised a training plan that worked with her busy coaching schedule but also would be efficient to building strength and delved into nutrition tips and tricks to keep her energised, well recovered from sessions and still allowed room for socialising
It’s fair to say that in a short space of time Maia has made some incredible progress 🔥
Not only can she fit back into (and even have more wiggle room too!) a pair of Zara jeans that she couldn’t prior to joining Ex-Athlete Enhanced… but now feels proud that she can feel confident going into a gym setting AND others are noticing her increase in strength and physique changes 🙌🏼
6 weeks apart, 2kg down & a whole lot of confidence gained 🤩

I have a confession 🤐
I genuinely believe that my sport made me more confident in bed
I’m not going to pretend I’m stiff as a rake
And I loved the choreography side of my sports so I like to think my hips don’t lie (gave myself the ick writing that but equally I’m laughing at myself so it’s staying in the caption HAHA)
But just because I’m happy to get steamy with the lights on now, it doesn’t mean I was always buzzing to get my kit off
Quite the opposite actually
There was a time post leaving sport where I was so self conscious in my body that I’d keep my top on and lie there like a dead salmon
With the mentality of ‘hopefully he doesn’t ask me to take this off’ 🫥
There was a layer of fat over my stomach that I didn’t like
I had only really just got to the other side of puberty too so I wasn’t overly used to the 🍉🍉 yet either 😂
I get it all might sound odd to some of you
But I know someone will read this and resonate 👀
Someone will notice they don’t let themselves go with their partner, not because they can’t move their body but because they are in a body they don’t feel at peace with
If it’s not just affecting you, but also those closest to you…
Then please , do something about it
It should be done for YOU, but if there needs to be another reason to pull the trigger then let this be it 🤷🏻♀️

It’s understandable why you might be second guessing investing in a coach again…
You always knew what the ultimate goals were in your sport, it was a clear cut vision of skills, qualification, improvements and with that - the results you would be able to achieve within comps
So what results will you get from a program that is NOT solely focused on a specific sport?
These are just a few…
And its worth noting that it is not just about the incredible physique changes that the team have made, which has led them to feel their most confident self AND wear clothes that they stopped wearing after sport…
That is a by product of FINALLY having a direction to work towards
Finding a SPARK for training again, getting fitter, stronger, faster and loving how your body moves
Developing KNOWLEDGE around nutrition to fuel your body for sessions, increase energy to make it through a full days work and build an even more sculpted physique
It’s just so much more than ‘lose weight’ or ‘tone up’

It’s probably time to reintroduce myself as there are lots of you ex-athletes now seeing my profile (which is wonderful, so welcome!)
I was an elite athlete for 12 years of my life, 7 years in artistic gymnastics & 5 years in highboard diving, competing Nationally & Internationally in both sports. I did cheer for just 6 months… the reason it was so short? Read below:
After spending my entire childhood & teenage years dedicated to my sports, an injury forced me into retirement. I went from tumbling, to a pile on the floor in agony, followed by surgery and 9 months of physio before being discharged.
Suddenly, all I had ever known was taken from me.
Then it all hit me..
🩱My body changed & I didn't have the knowledge to understand why or how to rebuild it.
🪫My energy levels plummeted, it felt like all I wanted to do was sleep & I couldn't shake it.
⛅️My drive & passion was dimming, as I had no where & nothing to put it in.
🚶🏼♀️I felt weak for the first time in my life & the gym was a daunting place
Whereas now…
🏆I love the physique I have worked hard to achieve & now have the knowledge on training & nutrition to maintain it.
🔋I have more energy than ever, meaning I can excel in day to day life.
🌟My drive & passion is brighter than ever, working towards huge goals in business & physical challenges, becoming the woman my younger athlete self would look up to.
🏋🏼♀️I feel & look the strongest I have ever been.
It's my mission to make a positive impact on the lives of athletes after sport. To show them a bigger vision for their future. To build a community like no other & challenge ourselves in a different physical capacity.
