Enkeisen (円形線)

The circular path of the blade in motion. This action is at the root of effective cutting in our style of swordsmanship (which is unarmored). When the curvature of the blade meets the curved arc of the enkeisen the slicing action of the cut naturally emerges without the addition of any “pulling” in the arms. The curved arc of the cut also efficiently returns energy to the body and facilitates both stopping cuts safely and flowing smoothly to additional targets.
