3 years of hard work, trial and error and most importantly finding balance.
On the left Iād starve myself of food to obtain āabsā to impress girls. Iād do endless amounts of cardio because being āshreddedā is cool and again girls like that right? Iād bring prepped meals round my girlfriends at the time because I was tracking, I was so concerned with how I looked and how others perceived me. Social life was little to none existent, meals with my family and friends? āSorry I canāt make it, Iām trackingā. The truth on the left is that I was so bothered with how I looked I actually ended up looking unwell.
On the right Iāve found balance between eating well most of the time, training because I love it and not for anyone elseās satisfaction. Love the feeling laying on the floor after a conditioning session thinking āhow the f**k have I survived that?ā. Enjoying myself on the weekends with friends and family, not feeling guilty after have endless bowls of cereal or doughnuts in the evenings. All my friends know Iām not a massive drinker or maybe Iām a ālightweightā but I love drinking with my boys, love going for meals and thatās never going to change. Training how I want, whether itās bodybuilding, CrossFit, sometimes even powerlifting š because I enjoy it, I do this for me not for anyone else.
Iāve realised that fitness and health isnāt necessarily how you look however itās more about how you feel.
Remember this is your life and end of the day you do what makes you happy as thatās the main thing! Compete against yourself for yourself, donāt compare anyone elseās journey to yours. Iām happy and grateful to have such amazing people around me!
