safe and wholesome atmosphere. The club has enjoyed the overwhelming support of the local community and continues to achive both on and off the field of play. In recognition of the club’s work within the local community, Athenlay became the first club in Southwark to achieve the much coveted Football Association Charter Standard Community Club Award. In 2006, The London Football Association, acknowledged and awarded our then head Coach Marcus Allen, as the best grassroots coach in London. In May 2009, Southwark Councils Civic Awards Order of Proceedings issued a letter of Commendation for the clubs service to the community. Throughout the years it has proved challenging both finically and physically but we are proud of our continued commitment to provide a unique 'football' resource to the children of the local community at grassroots level.
