Mother Nature, the giving that keeps on giving…

As with all sporting achievements the last 5% is the hardest.

This is the same for us.

With only 76NM to go we are at anchor as there’s some gale force wind on the way.

We need to remain safe and finish in good order, so it is the right thing to do.

The new plan is to wait and then carry on, we’re hoping for a Monday / Tuesday finish. 🤞🏻

Buoy problems!

No matter how good your lookout, one of these is bound to trip you up at some point! We had to row backwards or ‘back it down’ for a minute and get clear otherwise it would snag on the daggerboard! We definitely don’t need that amount of drag 😳

There are so many wind farms along the East Coast, it would have been rude not to row through one!

Anchor drop ⚓️

Never go backwards, always go forwards and anchor when the tide or wind gets too much!

We’ve been regularly crossing paths with since Northern Ireland (not that we knew, until last week).

Dougal is kayaking around GB raising awareness of Diabetes and demonstrating that it needn’t get in the way of a full and active life.

Good Luck from us!

Skipper update:

We made it to England!

Sorry for the silence on here but signal was lacking for most of the crossing from Scotland across the Firth of Forth.

We left our anchorage at 2300 on Monday and kept tucked in to the shore due to the Westerly wind. It had died down as expected but only to about 12-14knots. And when we crossed a small bay at Inverbervie, the wind was funnelling through the gap and hitting us side-on, making rowing a real pain in the bum…literally! 🍑

We’ve been on anchor for a day in Cruden Bay, waiting for strong wind to pass. We’re now on the move again.

A proper rainbow to send us on your way! 🌈

We are very grateful to our main sponsors who have supported us on this challenge. Without them, we wouldn’t have made it to the start line!

Thank you!
