For a long time, I thought I had to fix myself to be successful.
I thought:
â¨â I need to be less anxious.
â¨â I need to speak faster.
â¨â I need to look more confident, even if Iâm panicking inside.
Every time I tried to hurry my speaking during a meeting, blushed during a presentation, or spiralled afterward⌠I saw it as proof that something was wrong with me.
So I worked harder to mask it. To over-prepare. To push through.
But that didnât make me feel more confident.
â¨It made me feel more disconnected, from myself and others.
What I eventually realised is this:
đ The belief that âI need to fix myselfâ is what was keeping me stuck.
Because when we approach visibility and leadership from a place of self-rejection, weâre never truly free to show up.
True confidence doesnât come from forcing yourself to be someone else.
It comes from accepting who you are, and learning how to feel safe enough to let that person lead, speak, and be seen.
