Can a builder build a house without enough bricks?

“What if it’s timber frame?”

Shut up, don’t ruin my analogy

No, they can’t

No matter how hard they ‘try’, the house won’t be built if the raw materials are not there

Think of building muscle in the same way as building a house

It requires:

Bricks : Protein

Work : Hard-Training

Skill : Training in a way that triggers hypertrophy

Time : Time

Planning : Designing a programme that suits you
______________

There are other factors that influence your growth, but without the protein (blocks), it doesn’t matter how hard you train in the gym

Nothing will be built

Similarly, all the protein in the world won’t build muscle if the right work to the right intensity doesn’t get done

You’ll just have a big pile or bricks lying on a building site

Without the work, nothing happens

Without the right work, the right things don’t happen

Have an egg for yourself 🥚

1 - You will not look good no matter how weight you force yourself to lose if you have no muscle tissue underneath (male and female equally)

2 - You will not be able to keep the body fat off because your metabolism will slow down drastically with the loss of muscle

3 - You will be weaker and less capable of carrying out regular daily tasks that require strength

4 - You will put all of your joints at a considerably higher risk for injury because the muscles which keep them strong, safe and functional will atrophy

5 - You’ll be a bag of bones

6 - You’ll be a bag of bones

7 - You’ll be a bag of bones

Strength train 3-5 times per well while you lose weight and keep your protein intake high

Or don’t

But you’ll be a bag of bones

It’s much easier to be believe the snake oil and buy into it

The best way to fill your books as a coach is to talk rubbish about ‘tricks’ that are going to get you in shape

“This powerful antioxidant found in raspberries is the key you’ve been looking for to finally lose weight”

“Try this breakthrough fat loss work out guaranteed to melt inches off your waist”

“Add lemon to your morning water and fast until 11AM, it’s the secret they haven’t been telling you!”

All you have to do is share some pictures of your arse and put a caption like one of the above on it and people hurl themselves at your programme

Why?

Because it’s easier to accept that you are out of shape because the world has been keeping a secret hidden behind your back, than to accept that you need to do some hard work on fixing negative behaviours and beliefs

If you train really hard 3 or 4 times a week, you move your body plenty every day and you eat and sleep well the majority of the time - YOU WILL NOT BE OVERWEIGHT OR OUR OF SHAPE

It’s got absolutely nothing to do with tricks

If there is such thing as a trick to all of this it is as follows:

Your ability to control your mind and impulses will reflect itself fully in your daily actions

And your daily actions will decide what kind of body you have

So the key to it all is developing the skills necessary to make the right decision and take the right actions when your mind and hormones are trying to tell you to do the opposite

Stress management tools, clever goals, clever accountability structures

These are the secrets (if there is such a thing)
