Congratulations to Ryan, Gyanshi and Hannah, who competed at the London Open 2026 competition on Saturday 16th May.

Ryan and Gyanshi did really well in their respective groups and both won Silver πŸ₯ˆ

Hannah fought hard and, although not quite making it onto the medal podium this time, takes away valuable experience as she stepped-up to the next level of competition.

We are exceptionally proud of them all, and look forward to congratulating them during the next class at the club.

Another fantastic Surrey Closed Competition today - thank you to the organisers, referees and other officials without whom these events couldn't run πŸ‘

Everyone from CJC fought really hard, giving it their all; showing technical skill, strength and determination throughout the day.

An impressive medal tally:

Hanna πŸ₯‡
Evie πŸ₯‡
Gyanshi πŸ₯‡
Keenan πŸ₯‡
Vlad πŸ₯‡
Ioannis πŸ₯‡
Ryan πŸ₯‡
Harry πŸ₯‡
Ricky πŸ₯‡
Azamat πŸ₯‡
Yan πŸ₯‡

Yuriy πŸ₯ˆ
Alex πŸ₯ˆ
Ali πŸ₯ˆ
Aran πŸ₯ˆ

Ali πŸ₯‰

A special mention to Ali who at 15yrs old entered the Junior and Senior sections today. He only started judo August 2025, and today was his first venture onto the 'competition' mat. He started well with a Bronze πŸ₯‰ in the Juniors, which fired him up for the Seniors. He had to re-fight two players (due to equal scoring), and took a very impressive πŸ₯ˆ

Some of those who medalled will be eligible to represent Surrey County at the Southern Area Intercounties competition being held on Sunday 10th May 2026 at Woking.

Frank was also fighting today and although not reaching the podium he did really well and will come back even stronger for the next one πŸ‘

London Youth Games 2026

Salvador was fighting under Lambeth area today (due to school location), but still represented Croydon Judo Club.

The first round was an ippon win and then he threw for a swift ippon in the next. Round three didn't go his way, but it still went almost to the time.

Into reperchage for bronze... Two yoko's down and Salva got a throw in and a wazari score, which he kept hold of to win Bronze πŸ₯‰

A brilliant day, and a fantastic result.

Well done Salvador πŸ˜ƒ

A very enjoyable day at the British Veteran Open 2026 competition.

Fantastic atmosphere, and good contests.

Rob won the Gold πŸ₯‡ in the M5 - 73kg group, while Joe won Silver πŸ₯ˆ in the M7 +100kg. Dave, Ash and Richard won Bronze πŸ₯‰πŸ₯‰πŸ₯‰ in the M7 - 81kg, M7 - 90kg and M6 - 81kg respectively.

Tibor (M4 +100kg) and Azamat (M3 - 90kg) didn't make the medals on this occasion, but had some good contests and took away valuable information to build on.

Our thanks go out to Brian and Alex, who came along to support at the venue, and to all those who sent messages throughout the day - it really helped.
