The Royal Ocean Racing Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Charlie Dalin.

One of the most accomplished offshore sailors of his generation, Charlie’s achievements at sea inspired sailors around the world. His record-breaking victory in the 2024–25 Vendée Globe, achieved while battling cancer, will stand as one of the most remarkable feats in our sport.

We had the privilege of welcoming Charlie to the Rolex Fastnet Race in 2023, where he claimed Monohull Line Honours, further cementing his place among the greats of offshore racing.

A true giant of the sport, Charlie will be remembered not only for his extraordinary talent and determination, but also for the respect he earned throughout the sailing community.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all those who knew him.

Royal Ocean Racing Club appoints Paul Arkwright as General Manager.

Paul joins RORC with extensive experience in yacht club management, membership organisations, hospitality and events. Most recently, he served as General Manager of H**e Haven Yacht Club in Hong Kong, one of Asia’s leading yacht clubs, where he was responsible for the overall management of the Club, its facilities, members services, events programme and strategic development.

Prior to this, Paul held senior leadership roles across the marine, publishing and events sectors, bringing a broad range of commercial and operational experience. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with members, volunteers, committees and staff teams, supporting the long-term development of the organisations he has served.

Champions in Porto Cervo 🏆🇬🇧

A huge congratulations to Ino Veritas and Garm, who have won the 2026 Range Rover Sardinia Cup for the Royal Ocean Racing Club.

Across seven races, James Neville’s TP52 Ino Veritas delivered a superbly consistent series to win Sardinia Cup 1, while Per Roman’s GP42 Garm secured third in Sardinia Cup 2. Together, their combined performance earned overall victory against a world-class international fleet.

RORC leads the Range Rover Sardinia Cup 💪⛵️

A strong day for the RORC teams in Porto Cervo, as the Range Rover Sardinia Cup returned to windward-leeward racing after the offshore.

In SC1, Ino Veritas delivered a 2-1 scoreline to win the day and extend her lead at the top of the class standings. The margins were tight, with the second race decided by just four seconds on IRC corrected time.

In SC2, Ran leads the class for RORC Gold after another consistent day on the water, posting a first and a second as the Mistral built to around 20 knots, with gusts up to 24.

In the overall Range Rover Sardinia Cup team standings, calculated by combining the points of the two boats in each team, the RORC holds the lead. In second place is the YCCS and in third the YC Repubblica Marinara di Pisa.

Returning for the marathon 🇬🇧🇮🇪

The 2026 RORC Round Britain and Ireland Race starts on 09 August, marking the 50th anniversary of one of offshore racing’s great endurance tests.

At 1,805 nautical miles, non-stop around Britain and Ireland, this is far more than a race of speed. It is a test of preparation, seamanship, resilience and the ability to keep going when the miles get hard.

Among the 2026 fleet are returning boats, past winners, double handed specialists and sailors with unfinished business — from British Soldier, Bellino, Tigris and Marco Polo, to Pata Negra, Pace, Mzungu! and more.

For some, it is a chance to build on past success. For others, it is a return to complete what was left unfinished.

Leading the Way in Porto Cervo 🇬🇧⛵️

A strong opening day for the Royal Ocean Racing Club at the Range Rover Sardinia Cup.

Class victories for Ino Veritas and Rán have helped RORC move to the top of the provisional team standings after Race 1, with Royal Ocean Racing Club Gold also sitting third overall.

With plenty of racing still to come, it’s all to play for in Sardinia.

Sardinia Cup Returns to Porto Cervo 🇮🇹

After a 14-year hiatus, the Range Rover Sardinia Cup is back at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, bringing together 10 international club teams and 20 highly competitive boats for a new two-boat team format.

RORC is represented by two strong teams in Porto Cervo, with James Neville’s TP52 Ino Veritas paired with Per Roman’s GP42 Garm, while Peter Harrison’s IRC 52 Jolt 3, winner of the 2025 Admiral’s Cup with Yacht Club de Monaco, joins forces with Niklas Zennström’s Carkeek 41 Rán, the reigning IRC European Champion.

With world-class crews, IRC racing, and a format closely linked to the spirit of international team competition, the Sardinia Cup promises a brilliant week of racing on the Costa Smeralda.
