I hear this all the time. And I get it
You’ve spent your whole life afraid of eating too much or letting yourself go because every time you do, you binge and put on weight
And so you’ve learnt to restrict and avoid certain foods or food groups
You avoid going out to eat too often
You avoid “bad” foods and try to eat “clean”
You try to control what you eat as much as possible
But in reality, you don’t feel in control at all
You feel like your mood dictates what you eat
Like your cravings are a ticking 💣 that’s about to go off at any moment and demand that you eat that ice cream and crisps and biscuits and and…
And as much as you’re afraid of trying to change this and not succeeding
You’re terrified that this might be your reality for the rest of your life
Breathe. It doesn’t have to be
There is another way
You CAN live a life of happiness
You CAN learn to eat whatever you want
You CAN eat it all and not put on weight
You simply need to let go. Allow yourself the food your body craves
That’s the secret
When you do, you’ll start feeling in control
You’ll start feeling free
You will no longer stress or feel anxious about food
I know it’s scary
I know you’re afraid that if you do start eating more, you still won’t be happy or feel good in your body
Or worse, that you’ll loose even more confidence and control
But I promise that if you follow the right steps, your success is like Thanos: it’s inevitable
So if you want to live a happy life, eat whatever you want and stop letting your emotions rule your eating patterns, you NEED to let go

I was an emotional eater
Food was my go to for basically anything
Bored? Trip to the cupboards
Sad? Trip to the cupboards
Frustrated? Trip to the cupboards
Happy? Trip to the cupboards
Excited? Trip to the cupboards
Celebrating? You guessed it! Trip to the cupboards (or a restaurant)
Anytime I felt emotions, on either end of the spectrum, I’d eat
And I’m a VERY emotional human
So you can imagine the amount of trips to the cupboards there were
And growing up, I was always aware of how much I loved food and ate
But It wasn’t until my late teens that I realised that I was using it as a coping mechanism
Honestly, I didn’t fully connect the dots until I started my coaching training
Thankfully by then I’d found healthier ways to cope
Emotional eating is chastised and often put down to laziness or gluttony
You’re told you shouldn’t eat this or that
But no one really addresses the underlying issue
That it’s the way you learnt to deal with your emotions
The problem is not in you liking food or having said emotions
The problem is in you not having been taught how to deal with them properly
How to feel them and address them safely
And in the the fact that most people haven’t
Some use smoking, some use drugs, some use s*x, some use over exercising, some use food…
Doesn’t really matter what it is, they all serve the same purpose
And emotional eating has kept you alive and safe up until this point
But it’s not longer serving you 💛

“Now is not the right time”
It’s true. Life is busy
Maybe you’re selling/buying a house
Maybe you’re moving flat
Maybe work has been hectic
Maybe your kids are homeschooling
But let me ask you this: has there ever been a time in which you were not busy? Has there ever been a time in which everything went exactly as planned and all was smooth as a fresh jar of Skippy?
I reckon the answer is no. And will always be no
Because life is always happening
Which means you can’t wait for the “right time” or nothing will ever change
And you won’t do the things you want to do and get to enjoy life the way you want to
You won’t hang out with friends and family more because you’re always tired
You won’t go out as much because of the anxiety it brings you
You’ll miss out on fun times with your loved ones because you don’t have the mental energy to be there
Which leaves you feeling unhappy, lonely and anxious
I know exactly how that feels because I spent 5+ years of my life not changing my situation because it “wasn’t the right time”
And when I finally *chose* to change? Magic happened

How to forever stay motivated to make healthy choices
Have you ever...
✔️started a new workout regime or eating habit
✔️stayed on it for a couple of weeks
✖️then as the initial excitement and motivation started wearing off

How often do we forget this?
Both because we have our head filled with thoughts
And because social media often leads us to believe everyone else is living the peachy life
“this experience” might be anything
A bad day
A tough season of life
A rough week
A hard month or year
Whatever “it” is, you are definitely not alone
Because when you feel like s**t, you don’t feel like taking a selfie and posting on IG
And neither do most other humans
A bit part of TCT is becoming (self) aware
Yes of your physical self, but also of everything in life
The more self aware you become, the more you realise that actually, we’re all going through similar things
The more self compassionate you become, the more understanding you become of others too
And you slowly realise just how important that is
Having that (self) awareness and compassion

You know that terrible feeling that comes after eating pizza? 🥴
Wouldn’t you love to eliminate it completely?
Diets and wanting to be smaller are so often accompanied by guilt and shame 😥
About what you eat, how you look, how clothing fits…
The problem is that most of the information out there tells you that this is the way to go
✖️“Don’t eat this”
✖️“Be strict”
✖️“Burn off the calories from (pizza or whatever else it was)”
And you so desperately want to loose weight that you latch on for dear life
Punishing yourself and feeling like s**t anytime you eat anything “bad”
Well we don’t do that in this household
Shame and guilt tripping have no place in anything. Ever.
Much less when you’re just trying to live a happy life
And eat good food 😋
We reach our goals through exploration, grace and compassion, flexibility
The more you restrict > the more you crave > the more you spiral out of control

Did you know that 40-45% of what we do are habits
This can be both a great and not so great thing

The never-ending cycle of dieting 🥵
You know the drill:
*Jan 1, New Year’s Resolutions*
“This year I’m going to loose x amount of weight and get super fit” 💪🏼
You start a new diet and workout regime, and go strong for a couple of weeks
*Jan 14-15, starts seeing some progress*
“Wohoo! This is going great! Let’s celebrate” 🥳
And then you give yourself a cHeAt dAy, end up overeating and then feel like s**t
*Jan 18-19, tries to get back on track*
“Ok I only need to cut out these entire food groups and spend 10000 hours doing cardio” 😰
But you’ve lost momentum, and the cravings are staring to get bad, and you don’t really like this at all
*Jan 26-27, throws the towel in*
“F*ck it, I can’t do this” 😡
And you then feel completely defeated, frustrated and maybe even a little bit ashamed
