Recently I have been dealing with a massive knock to my confidence which made me struggle to feel good about my appearance, not eat the way that I should be, not train as consistently as I was before, disrupt my sleeping pattern, and overall just made me doubt myself in every aspect.

Sometimes things that are really unforeseen do happen, and in these cases all you can do is control the things that you actually can control. Take a step back, reset, and then start building back up to eating well, training consistently, getting enough sleep and feeling better.

After a long few months of really struggling and not being myself, this week I have finally started to feel happier and more fulfilled from slowly building these factors back up again.

The reason I’m posting this is because it is so easy to make everything look okay and positive through social media, when actually things might be really difficult on the other side of the screen. With an exciting month ahead of me- I’m reminding myself now that the only way to look is forwards.

If you are going through a hard time at the moment, it is so important to remember that all storms will pass, and the sun will shine again!! Just keep getting better, little by little, day by day. It will be okay 💙

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF WEIGHT TRAINING?

🫀Boosts immunity:
Weight training (and exercise in general) actually increases the function of the immune system due to increased blood flow as muscles contract, allowing a greater circulation of immune cells.

🛌Weight training also improves posture, sleep quality and energy levels, essential aspects to a healthy life which are often affected by contemporary living!

🦴Keeps bones strong and healthy:
During weight bearing activity, tension is applied to the bones by muscles and tendons, which then stimulates them to produce more bone tissue. As a result of this bones become stronger and more dense, and the risk of osteoporosis and fractures decreases.

⚖️Assists with balance and stability:
Strengthening your muscles through different planes of motion and angles while you are weight training will benefit both balance and stability.

😆Increases confidence:
Weight training allows you to set and achieve both short and long term goals, become physically stronger, improve mental well-being and altogether make you proud of your achievements!

🧠Decreases depression and anxiety:
Exercise is known to increase the release of endorphins from the brain, which then improves mood, reduces negative effects of stress and overall increases our sense of well-being.

YOU are in charge of your own happiness.

Do things that will make you happy, make choices that will make you happy, surround yourself with people that make you happy. It’s okay to be a bit selfish and put yourself first for once- trying to please others and neglecting your own happiness is never going to end well.

Once you start prioritising YOU and YOUR OWN happiness, your life will change forever, I promise!! 💙

5 HEALTH & FITNESS TRUTHS🤐

Ab exercises do not burn belly fat. To lose fat you need to be in a caloric deficit, and you can’t choose where to lose weight.

Lifting weights does not make you “bulky”. It takes a long time to gain muscle mass. However weight training will reliably make you stronger.

The purpose of exercise is not to burn off your food- stop using it as a punishment and instead use it to improve your health and strength!

Rest is just as important as working out. You don’t need to train every day to see results, our bodies need rest to repair and recover.

Quick fixes won’t give you long term results. These will only push you further from your goals and are not sustainable.
