💭 THE JOY OF THE JOURNEY

So many of us are rushing to the destination...are we leaving change on the table?

A few weeks ago, two of my nieces came to London (2 and 4), and we went for a trip into London. Little did I know that the journey was the main event.

The children yelled "Bus" with excitement as we scrambled to the front seats on the top deck. "We are higher than anything," Nova said with joy as we went over the bumps.

We went onto the Elizabeth Line, DLR, cable car, river boat, and underground home. Every mode of transport brought a different experience of happiness.

Sometimes we get incredible views, but maybe we really can choose the view. The perspective of fresh eyes can allow us to see the world differently 🌎

💭 WHY I DISAPPEARED ONLINE

There have been times in the past few months where I haven't been on social media in weeks. It wasn't by design but more by necessity.

I started the year as usual as Fitness Manager at Nuffield Bloomsbury whilst juggling around 10-15 clients in person. At the beginning of March, I was asked to take over at Covent Garden in addition. Two full time 40 hour positions and the first dual site Fitness Manager within Nuffield.

It's been HARD. Quite easily, my biggest professional challenge to date.

The task was to take Covent Garden from the lowest performing site in London (16 clubs) and make it great. Whilst that is still in progress, Bloomsbury has just recorded back to back record months and sits top of London. The only club to have PT pe*******on over 3% at 3.53% with sales at 124% MTD.

My point here is that you can't do everything. If you juggle too many balls, one of them will fall. For me, that was social media. We all feel pressure to do it all, but don't be hard on yourself.

Now that the initial setup phase is over, my aim is to give more back online.

Social media doesn't make me any money, but I like to be authentic and help in the world of fitness where I can.

💭 STAY IN YOUR LANE

We are all in different seasons. One person's summer is another person's winter. Yet we can often expect to be at the same moment in time.

With Hyrox and races now running almost every weekend, it's easy to see PB after PB whilst you are in your off-season or recovering from a setback in training.

This is your journey and your story. You will have your moment in the sun.

Stay in your lane and keep pushing forward 🚀

💭 DO IT BECAUSE YOU CAN

Today, after a long road, I added in body weight squats. It would be easy to compare myself to my previous best or those around me and be disgruntled.

However, it was a big moment and it made me happy.

If we constantly compare ourselves to others or our previous best version, it can sometimes leave us feeling low.

Just a friendly reminder if you are starting for the first time or coming back from injury - celebrate the small wins 🏆

Use others for inspiration and aim to be 1% better daily.

I will come back and be better than my previous self. I know this, but training is about the journey rather than the destination.

🤕 LET'S TALK INJURIES

One day, you are setting PBs, and the next, you can't exercise in the same way. It's painful. It's a process of trial and error. It's two steps forward and one step back. I get you...it is so frustrating.

Since May, I've been focusing on rehab on a very angry hamstring tendon. My running volume is non-existent, and my leg sessions have been without any compound movements as I progress the load. Added on top of this, my left shoulder has impingement so I can use the upper body.

What keeps me going is the knowledge I will come back. Every time you recover from an injury, it is evidence that you can do it again.

In the moment of pain, it feels far away, but you will have that finish line feeling again.

That is what keeps me driving on daily with my rehab. I have races in November and December with goals of a sub 60 doubles in Hyrox.

FIND YOUR WHY 💭

What is your reason to show up daily in your rehab?

Mine is so I crush that PB with in Poznan and in London.

Just focus on what you CAN DO right now rather than what you CANNOT 💪🏼

💭 LOOK OUT.....LOOK UP 💭

In a world where our phones connect us so much with others, it is easy to forget that life really is happening right in front of us.

Yesterday, I looked around the park as everyone stopped rushing around to appreciate an act of nature. Phones were secondary, and time stood still. In many ways, it made me sad that it took a solar eclipse to make people stop for a moment and appreciate the world 🌎.

What are you grateful for that is right in front of your eyes. You just might need to put your phone down for a moment to see it 🤳.

Just remember that authors mainly write what they need to hear themselves. Last night definitely made me stop and think 🌓

After 22 years and multiple near misses, this season became an obsession: to share this moment with my arsenal family ❤️

I wrote this poem as a story of the emotional rollercoster season. One that I'll never forget, and I'm sure you won't either.

4 weeks ago, tonight was the night all of our dreams became a reality. We did it Gooners 🏆
