💼 Ladies, don’t just watch the opportunities — seize them! What’s one bold move you’ve taken this week? 👇

Are you a loser?

That’s what we are told when we start a business because when you start you have nothing.

I started my Instagram and I had 0 followers. I was told I’m on a wrong path. My dad went into depression when I announced I was leaving Deustche Bank to start a business.

Now, having been through that path, growing my Instagram for mums to 26k followers in under 2 years, I’ve decided to set up TikTok too.

It currently has about 30 followers since last night and it feels like a de.ja.vu again.

The difference is this time I know that I can do it, simply because I know how to do it. I did not have similar confidence back then.

When I left Deustche Bank, I sacrificed A LOT. Weekly manicures, Third Space membership, fancy restaurants.

It took time, but now I have re-signed to Third Space, have weekly manicures and go to fancy restaurants.

It just took time.

The difference is I now have exactly same things I had whilst being in investment bank, but I am actually the one earning it (not my employer).

If you want to change your life, be patient and accept that in the first year of building a business you’ll have to sacrifice A LOT, including your living standards.

But the great thing about all of this is your income grows at your business rate, not HR rate. Which in my case is a DOUBLE every year.

My recent conversation with a bank clerk or 2 most common misconceptions about running a business. In fact, I had this misconception too when I was leaving 9-5 and jumping into 24/7 (this is what I like to call my business 😅).

Last week I was withdrawing cash from my mum, so a bank clerk asked to confirm my details including my employer. I clarified that I’m self-employed running my own business. 👩‍💻

He asked me how’s my business going and whether I enjoyed it, or wanted to go back to 9-5. Naturally, I described my love for running the business in the brightest colours excitedly saying how fulfilling it is. 😍

Then he said: well, as long as you make up your old salary and can pay bills, why not? Can you find 2 misconceptions in this sentence? Let’s go! ✨

⛔️ People who run businesses tend to do it with the end goal of thriving, not surviving or just paying bills. Starting, growing and running a business is a huge adventure and is definitely a test of character. So normally, if you were to take yourself through this level of commitment - the end goals are more than just paying bills.

⛔️ As an entrepreneur, you actually have to make MORE than your previous 9-5 salary to maintain the same lifestyle. Why? In 9-5, all business expenses are paid for you. Your salary is the disposable income that you can fully spend on yourself. As a biz owner, you have to pay for all business expenses yourself: subscriptions, software, and salaries. So if in 9-5, you were making £5k, you’d need to make £7.5 as a biz owner to maintain an equivalent lifestyle.

So here is my conclusion: you don’t know, what you don’t know. And I’m here to open the curtains to show you some of my life behind the scenes 🙋‍♀️

Now, it’s your turn! What was YOUR biggest surprise when you left 9-5 and embarked on an entrepreneurship journey? Share in the comments below 👇

Last week I had a rough few days…which made me more aware of “loss aversion” bias as a female entrepreneur. FULL STORY below 👇

Before I get into the details of what happened, I’d like to tell you what the loss aversion bias is. Being aware of it is the first step to overcoming it when challenges happen.

Loss aversion refers to a phenomenon where a loss is perceived by individuals as psychologically or emotionally more severe than an equivalent gain. For instance, the pain of losing $100 is often far greater than the joy of gaining the same amount. ⛔️

Last week, starting Monday morning, everything seemed to have gone the wrong way…

My PA scheduled a couple of Zoom calls with high-ticket potential clients at the wrong time - hence some deals fell through, and others got delayed. 🤯

My website provider had a worldwide outrage at the exact time when my new clients were trying to sign up for the Coaching Program. 😤

We had a quiet few days in terms of new collaboration enquiries whilst we normally hear from someone daily. 😱

All these events happening one by one across 3 days made me feel like my business was collapsing…looking back now, I am smiling. 😁

What I realised was that, in my mind, the difficult 3 days completely crossed over all the great things that had been happening for the whole 3 weeks prior to that. So the negative emotions from those 3 days felt much stronger than the positive emotions from the prior 3 weeks of positive events.✨

Doesn’t really make sense, right? ☀️

The reason I am sharing this story with you is to help you be more aware of a loss aversion bias on your female entrepreneur journey. We, as women, often expect a lot from ourselves: set high standards and aim to achieve perfection in many areas of our lives especially in business, so any setbacks may feel like a complete failure. ✨

But in reality, it really helps to see setbacks as the beginning and the middle, but never to entertain it as an end. This mindset approach will also help you to keep the right perspective on the magnitude of events happening to you! 🤩

Comment below if you recognise loss aversion bias in the way you perceive positive and negative events. 👇
