🎯 How would I structure 100 balls on the driving range?
Most golfers beat balls. Better golfers practice with a purpose.
Here’s my simple 100-ball formula:
⛳ 10 Balls – Warm Up
Start with a wedge and simply get the body moving. Don’t worry about direction or distance. Focus on building speed, range of motion, and rhythm.
🔧 30 Balls – Block Practice
Work on your technical changes. Use the drills and feels you’ve been given by your coach and focus on improving a specific movement pattern, ball flight, or strike.
🎯 30 Balls – Random Practice
Start changing clubs and targets. Move through the bag just like you would on the golf course. The goal is to begin transferring those technical feels into golf shots.
🏌️ 30 Balls – Game Practice
If your range has Toptracer or TrackMan, play a game.
If not, play your home course in your mind. Driver on the 1st tee, then your approach club. Work through holes exactly as you would on the course.
The biggest mistake I see golfers make?
Spending all 100 balls in block practice.
Practice should move from technique ➡️ performance.
A LITTLE better every day. 👊

⛳️ 3 Bunker Musts ⛳️
Struggle to get out of bunkers first time? Focus on these 3 simple keys:
✅ Sand First
The club should enter the sand before the golf ball. If you try to strike the ball cleanly, there’s a much greater chance of leaving it in the bunker.
✅ Keep the Speed Up
Don’t be scared to accelerate! The sand slows the club down dramatically, so you need plenty of speed through impact to generate enough energy to splash the ball out.
✅ Keep the Loft
As you swing through, feel like the clubface stays pointed towards you for longer. This helps maintain the loft, launch the ball higher, and gives you a much better chance of clearing the lip.
Bunkers don’t have to be scary. Get these three things right and you’ll give yourself a great chance of escaping first time, every time. 💪🏌️♂️

⛳️ OUT & UNDER DRILL ⛳️
One of the most common swing faults I see is a club that gets whipped too far behind the body in the takeaway. 🚨
While it might feel like a bigger turn, it often puts the club in a position where the only way back to the ball is to come over the top in the downswing.
✅ This drill helps you keep the club more in front of your body during the takeaway.
✅ It encourages the clubhead to stay outside the hands for longer.
✅ As you move towards the top of the backswing, the alignment stick naturally drops in front of you, creating the sensation of the club shallowing correctly.
Instead of working in and over, you’ll start to feel the club work out and under — a movement that can help improve strike, path and consistency. 🎯
Remember, drills are designed to create a feeling. The feeling isn’t always the real movement, but if it produces better golf shots, you’re heading in the right direction. 💪

⛳️ Headcover Fixes Everything? 🤔
Well… not quite. 😅
But a simple headcover can give you an instant visual to help tackle three of the most common driver faults:
🚀 Skying the Driver?
Place the headcover just in front of the golf ball. This encourages the club to work more upwards through impact and helps promote a more positive angle of attack.
➡️ Slicing the Ball?
Place the headcover just outside the ball on the target side of your swing path. If you’re swinging over the top, you’ll likely hit the headcover first, encouraging a better path into the ball.
⬅️ Hooking the Ball?
Place the headcover just inside the ball on the trail side. If you’re swinging too much from the inside, the headcover provides immediate feedback and encourages a more neutral path.
🎯 Remember, a slice, hook or skyed drive can have multiple causes, but these simple setups are fantastic for creating awareness and improving your swing path.
Sometimes the best training aids are already sitting in your golf bag! 🙌

💧🇬🇧 The Bottle o’ Water Drill 🇬🇧💧
If you’re someone who spins your hips in the downswing and stays stuck on your trail side, this simple drill can give you instant feedback.
Place a bottle of water just outside your trail heel at address. The goal? Make your swing without knocking it over.
✅ A good downswing starts with a pressure shift into your lead side before you rotate.
❌ If you stay back and simply spin your hips, there’s a good chance you’ll move into the bottle and send your “bo’oh o’ wo’ah” flying! 😂
It’s a great visual for learning how to shift, rotate, and sequence the downswing more efficiently—helping you strike the ball more consistently and generate better speed.
💡 Sometimes the simplest training aids provide the best feedback.

This is one of my favourites… a twist on Justin Rose’s pump drill with an added move that most golfers miss 👇
➡️ Step 1: Shift first
Before you even think about shallowing the club, you need a lateral move into your lead side. This gets pressure forward and sets up everything that follows.
➡️ Step 2: Pump & shallow
Now rehearse that “pump” move—feeling the club drop behind you while your body continues to rotate.
➡️ Step 3: Then go
Blend it together… shift ➡️ shallow ➡️ rotate 💥
🚫 Most golfers try to shallow without shifting…
That will move the low point too early and cause fat shots
✅ Get the sequence right, and everything becomes easier—better strike, better path, better control.
💡 Give it a go next time you practice and feel the difference!

🚫 “Turning” in the backswing isn’t always a real turn…
A lot of golfers create the appearance of rotation by simply changing the flex in their knees 👀
➡️ Lead knee bends more
➡️ Trail leg straightens
➡️ Hips barely rotate
I call this the “Fake Turn” ❌
A great checkpoint is to place a glove in your trail back pocket 🧤
If you’re actually rotating your hips correctly in the backswing, the glove should begin working more towards the middle of your stance as your trail hip turns behind you ✅
If the glove just stays on the trail side while the knees change flex… you’re probably faking the turn rather than truly rotating 🌀
This is such a simple visual from the down-the-line camera angle and can massively improve how you load pressure and create better rotation in the backswing 💥
🎯 Real turn = trail glute works behind you
❌ Fake turn = knees move but hips don’t rotate
