The energy boost, the stronger mindset, the progress you start to notice — it all adds up. Some days you train for results, other days you train because it clears your head, builds discipline, and reminds you what you’re capable of.

You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to keep showing up. One workout becomes another, one good decision turns into a lifestyle, and before long, movement becomes something you genuinely miss when it’s not there.

Thursdays at Tokei = double session energy 🥋

From sharp technical work to intense newaza rounds, this week was all about improving the details, building confidence, and putting the reps in. One session focused on foot-sweeps, timing, and movement — the other tested control and pressure on the ground.

The best part? Everyone pushed each other, learned something new, and still had a great time doing it. That balance between hard work and enjoyment is what keeps the progress coming week after week.

Strong training, good atmosphere, and plenty of lessons on the mats this week. 👊

On 6 June we held the first Copa Tokei, our in-house BJJ competition.

Three matches. Zero injuries. Lots of good Jiu-Jitsu, great sportsmanship, and plenty of smiles.

The goal was simple: give our students a chance to experience competition in a friendly, supportive environment. Everyone stepped up, tested themselves, and represented the club brilliantly.

A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped make it a success. Looking forward to the next one.

The body achieves what the mind believes.

Every rep starts with a decision. Every session starts with a mindset. Before the strength, before the speed, before the results - there’s belief. Belief that you can push harder, move better, stay disciplined, and keep showing up even on the days motivation feels low.

Your mind sets the standard your body follows. If you train with focus, determination, and purpose, your body will rise to meet that challenge. Progress doesn’t happen overnight, but small efforts repeated consistently create big results over time.

Some days will test your energy. Some workouts will feel tougher than others. But growth happens when you keep going anyway. Trust the process, trust your preparation, and trust yourself.

Strong mindset. String body. Strong results.

The Snipers are alive and kicking. We're continuing to focus heavily on our clinch work at the moment, and the improvements are showing in every department.

Technique, balance, control, timing, and confidence are all moving in the right direction.

Most importantly, we're keeping the atmosphere friendly, positive, and supportive while still working hard and pushing each other to improve, regardless of experience level.

💧 Wellness Wednesday at Tokei 💧

Hydration becomes even more important when the temperature rises. Whether you’re training hard, walking more, working outdoors, or just getting through a busy day, your body needs enough fluids to perform at its best.

Even mild dehydration can affect energy levels, focus, recovery, and performance. If you’re feeling unusually tired, sluggish, dizzy, or struggling during training, it might not always be lack of fitness — sometimes you simply need more water.

A few simple reminders for the warmer days ahead:
✔️ Start hydrating early, not just during your workout
✔️ Sip consistently throughout the day
✔️ Replace fluids lost through sweat after training
✔️ Don’t wait until you feel thirsty
✔️ Add electrolytes if you’re training intensely or sweating heavily

At Tokei, we always talk about performance, recovery, and wellbeing going hand in hand. Looking after the basics properly — sleep, nutrition, movement, and hydration — can make a huge difference to how you feel both inside and outside the gym.

Not every fitness win has to come from lifting heavier, running faster, or pushing through an intense session. Sometimes the simplest habits make the biggest difference.

A walk can improve your mood, boost recovery, increase daily movement, clear your mind, and keep your body active without burning you out. It all adds up. Every step is progress.
