💃🕺 Proudly Representing the BDSA!

The British DanceSport Association was delighted to be represented by BDSA President Marcus Hilton MBE and Vice President Karen Hilton MBE at a special evening hosted by East Dulwich WI on 14 October.

With an incredible 16 World Championship titles between them, Marcus and Karen shared stories and experiences from their remarkable careers in Ballroom and Latin American dancing, offering guests a fascinating insight into the world of competitive dance sport.

The evening also provided a wonderful opportunity to introduce guests to the work of the BDSA, highlighting our ongoing commitment to promoting fairness, transparency, safeguarding and positive opportunities throughout the UK dance community.

A huge thank you to East Dulwich WI (http://eastdulwichwi.co.uk/) for the warm welcome and the opportunity to share our passion for dance sport, and to SE21 magazine for featuring the event in its October edition.

👏 Proud to represent our sport, celebrate its achievements and champion its future!

Being on the Register is just the beginning.

1️⃣ Finding your school is step one.

2️⃣ Claiming your record gives you greater control over your information.

3️⃣ Accreditation then gives you an opportunity to demonstrate the standards and safeguarding practices behind your school.

The National Dance Safe Register is already encouraging schools to look at how they are represented and what they can do next.

Find your school. Claim your profile. Demonstrate your standards.

A new partnership, created to support the people who keep dance sport moving. 🤝

We’re delighted to welcome Class Manager and Stage Stubs as new BDSA partners, bringing practical tools and added value to dance schools, teachers and the wider dance sport community.

From simplifying the day-to-day running of a dance studio, to making ticket sales for shows and events easier to manage, both platforms are designed to help take pressure off behind the scenes — so you can spend more time focusing on your dancers.

Smarter studio management. Simpler ticketing. More support for our community.

We’re excited to see what this partnership brings.

A proud day for one of our young BDSA members. 👏

Today, Felix is attending Children’s Parliament, where young people will be taking part in discussions around disabilities and inclusion.

Felix has already represented the BDSA on the international dance sport stage, achieving Vice Champion in Latin in the Under 10s category at the European Confederation of Dance Sports, and we’re delighted to see him now taking part in another important opportunity where young voices can be heard.

At the BDSA, we believe dance sport is about far more than competition. It’s about confidence, opportunity, inclusion and giving young people the platform to grow — both on and off the dancefloor.

We’re incredibly proud of you, Felix. Enjoy every moment today and know that everyone at the BDSA is wishing you well!

Momentum is building around the National Dance Safe Register.

Since its launch, dance schools have begun exploring their records, reviewing the information available about them and taking steps towards claiming and verifying their profiles.

That early engagement is an encouraging sign.
Because the more schools that participate, the more useful the Register becomes for everyone:
greater transparency for parents and dancers, greater visibility for schools and clearer standards across the wider dance sector.

The National Dance Safe Register isn't simply a directory.

It is an opportunity to create a more transparent, accountable and trusted dance community.
And that process is already underway.
