Why this guy is the reason players get yellow cards for taking off their Jerseys
o

Since 2004, taking off your Jersey has been a yellow card offence but do you know which player caused this? Diego Forlan is the player that caused it.

After scoring for Man United, he took off his Jersey but the problem is he didn’t put it back on before play had restarted. He had to play topless holding his shirt.

He put it back on at the next break in play. Forlan didn’t leave his mark on Man. United but he changed the laws of football.

In 2004, FIFA made playing shirtless punishable by card so Law 12 now bans players from taking off their Jerseys. A player has to celebrate “non-excessively”, the aim is to avoid wasting time restarting the game.

The other reason for the ban is FIFA wants to stay neutral, so it bans spreading messages whether they are political or personal.

This measure is also used for marketing. Sponsors pay huge sums of money so that we see their brand as much as possible. Income could be lost with a shirtless player.

FIFA have never put marketing first but it’s obvious that sponsors like this rule.

Yakubu Aiyegbeni For The First Time Speaks On His 2010 World Cup Open Goal Miss And How People Still Insult Him About It

Yakubu Aiyegbeni for the first time speaks on his 2010 World Cup open goal miss and how people still insult him about it

Aiyegbeni admitted that missing an open goal in the World Cup clash against South Korea ten years ago was the weirdest moment of his career.

Yakubu Aiyegbeni for the first time speaks on his 2010 World Cup open goal miss and how people still insult him about it

Nigeria could have advanced to the round of sixteen if Yakubu had scored in the 66th minute in front of an open goal even though Nigeria lost their first two matches to Argentina and Greece and now the former Everton and Portsmouth striker says that moment was the weirdest of his career as he still gets insulted up till today because of the miss.

“Missing one of the chances of the decade of the World Cup in South Africa 2010, I still get messages everyday about it, sometimes some of them are being nice, sometimes some of them are being rude. ‘ Yakubu told South African journalist Carol Tshabalala via Instagram live.

“I just ignore them, some of them are looking for attention. In football you miss chances, they are thinking about the miss, they are not thinking of the joy you bring to people’s lives when you play.

“You miss chances in your clubsides and you still play the next game and people forget about it, but going back home you miss chances and people still think about it.”

Yakubu also named Everton striker Daniel Amokachi as his role model growing up.

“Growing up watching Amokachi was something nice, I call him sexy big brother. He’s a nice guy. He was the assistant manager of the national team as well when I was in the national team, so it was an honour to be with him in the same team, we didn’t play together there, we were very close.

“Watching him on TV, the way he bullied the defenders, the way he scores goals, you can see the smile on his face and the dedication is there.

“Watching him, Kanu and Jay-Jay is unbelievable,”

EPL to introduce three new changes

The International Football Association Board has announced new changes to the Laws of the Game, including alterations to VAR, handball and penalty kick decisions

The Premier League is set to use new rules next season after football’s law-making body has made changes to the use of pitch-side monitors and an explanation of which part of the arm can be penalised as handball.

The International Football Association Board have addressed a number of the controversial aspects of officiating the game, such as the use of the video assistant referee (VAR) and handball and penalty kick decisions.

And referees are likely to spend much more time looking at pitch-side monitors next season thanks to their changes.

The new Laws of the Game appear to have underlyingly criticised the Premier League – who had given the power to make decisions about reviewable incidents to the VAR official – by insisting that the referee undertake an on-field review.

VAR
VAR has endured some teething problems since its inception at the beginning of the current seasons.
No top flight has seemed to struggle with the introduction of the technology as much as the Premier League has.

But it looks like referees are being given more power to make decisions from next season.

Next term refs will be expected to use the pitch-side monitor whenever there is a subjective decision to be made, rather than letting the video assistant ref at Stockley Park make the call.

However, the IFAB decided against allowing fans to listen to conversations between match officials.

Handball

Next season goals after accidental handballs will only be chalked off if they ‘result in a goal or an obvious opportunity for the player and or their team to score a goal. (i.e. following the handball, the ball travels only a short distance and/or there are very few passes).’

“For the purposes of determining handball offences, the ‘arm’ stops at the bottom of the armpit,” the new rules read.

Handball decisions have again been the subject of debate this season.

Penalties

Next season any goalkeeper moving off his line before a penalty is taken will only be punished if the spot-kick is saved.

If the penalty is missed either by hitting the woodwork, or missing the target completely it will not be retaken.

Box encroachment will see the effort retaken, regardless of whether it goes in.

If an attacking player steps foot in the box and the penalty is missed, an indirect free-kick will be awarded the other way.

Wayne Rooney has championed Harry Kane as the perfect No.9 amid speculation linking the England captain to Manchester United.

The 26-year-old has established a reputation as one world football’s most prolific goalscorers, having scored 181 goals in all competitions for Tottenham since making a spectacular first team breakthrough six years ago.

Despite his astonishing personal achievements, Kane is yet to win silverware with his boyhood club and last month revealed he would not consider remaining at Spurs ‘for the sake of it’.

United maintain a long-standing interest in Kane but are likely to be put off by Daniel Levy’s £200million valuation. Nevertheless, Rooney insists he would build any team around his former international teammate and make him the fulcrum of his attack.

He told the Times: ‘In the last two seasons we’ve seen him drop deeper more and play balls in behind and he’s very good at it, as we saw when England beat Spain in Seville

Premier League Resumption date announced

Premier League: A two - hour conference meeting by premier league clubs on Friday settles on the resumption date.

The premier league is set to return to action on the weekend of mid June in a best - case scenario. The decision to resume matches on the weekend of 13th - 14th June was reached after Uefa wrote to domestic associations stating that they should should finish their domestic campaigns by 31st July. August is set to see completion of the champions league and the Europa league, according to Communication from Uefa.

The decision to resume matches on 13th June however depends heavily on the NHS, The National Health Service, which must give a nod for any sporting events to resume. This will be determined by its ability to carry out testing and treatment of the infected.

The premier league's return formula is moulded around matches being played behind closed doors, with testing being at the forefront. In the best case scenario, teams will see a 'pre-season' of 3 - 4 weeks from may 10, with players working separately or in small groups in efforts to regain full fitness before training together as a full squad.

At the suspension of the Epl, 15 clubs had 9 rounds of matches to play, while Manchester City, Aston Villa, Sheffield and Arsenal had 10 rounds of matches.

Liverpool were leading the table with 82 points, 25 clear of 2nd placed Manchester City.

The champions League is set to return on 3rd of August while finals are to be played on 29th of August 2020 if all goes according to plan.
