Since 1930, the Shed End has been where Chelsea’s soul lies…

From its humble canopy cover to being the loudest terrace at Stamford Bridge, it’s a symbol of our support 🔵

The old terrace is gone, but the spirit lives on for blues fans 🏟️

In 1982, Chelsea were broke, broken, and nearly gone…

The Bridge was falling apart, the land was owned by developers, and the club had no money, no trophies, and no future.

Enter Ken Bates - a blunt Yorkshire businessman who bought Chelsea for £1 and spent the next two decades fighting to keep it alive.

He battled developers, fans, the council - even tried to install an electric fence to stop hooligans.

But beneath the controversy was a relentless will to protect the club. He rebuilt Stamford Bridge, oversaw Chelsea’s return to Europe, and in 2003 sold to Abramovich for £140m.

He could be brutal, funny, or infuriating - sometimes all at once but he saved Chelsea from disappearing.

💬 What’s your verdict - Ken Bates: hero, villain, or a bit of both? 👇

Chelsea FC players doing the Crossbar Challenge in 2008.

Just look at that first XI and the players we had as backup. The drop-off from that Chelsea team to what we have now is actually crazy.
