IBB Polonia London will not enter a senior team into the National Volleyball League for the 2026/27 season, following a decision to redirect our limited resources toward areas where we believe they can create a greater long term impact for volleyball.
Over more than a decade we have tested almost every route available to an ambitious British volleyball club, including domestic championships, the historic 2019 NEVZA Club Championship victory, Challenge Cup, CEV Cup, Champions League, major international players, professional events, broadcast projects, media formats and youth development.
Those experiences have convinced us that building another competitive senior team does not currently address the biggest barriers facing volleyball in Britain, particularly when the financial burden carried privately by individual clubs remains so high.
Our focus will now move toward grassroots development, volleyball media and public relations, research and policy work, engagement with national and local government, international relationships, and creating better conditions for the sport to develop sustainably.
We remain proud of everything achieved by the players, coaches, volunteers, supporters and partners who made an extraordinary period in the history of IBB Polonia London possible.
The ambition has not disappeared, although the way we intend to pursue that ambition has changed considerably after everything we have learned during the last thirteen years.
A fuller explanation of the decision and our next direction is available on the IBB Polonia London website.
