It’s been two years since I had my third baby now 🥹 and these things still ring so true and I wish every single new mum could be told them over and over again.
Newborn life is hard, but without all the extra pressures it can also be wonderful. Be gentle on yourself and ask for help, because people genuinely want to help.
These 5 exercises are going to get your core working seriously hard, without a crunch in sight.
Crunches are not the devil, they definitely have their place, but there are times when they’re not appropriate like in pregnancy, or if you’re healing a diastasis for example, PLUS they are not the only core option. These are seriously effective.
1. KNEEING WOODCHOPS
2. STANDING CHEST PRESS
3. OVERHEAD MARCHES
4. ROUND THE WORLDS
5. WINDMILLS
You can do these all together as a core circuit (40 seconds or 8 reps of each) or you can just add these into your existing workouts but they’re all pregnancy safe, you just may want to drop the weight right down or use bodyweight if your core is struggling to maintain tension as the bump grows.
