Safe spotting!
We think learning to spot properly is just as important as learning the extreme tricks. London Dance Academy founder Melissa explains why spotting in Pole Dance and Aerial Classes has always been an important element of teaching for her studio.
We don’t want to see our students developing a distrust of moves and feeling inadequate. We don’t want to hear things like “oh I suck at elbow grip”, “I’m too weak to do that” “no that’s not my move”. Its incredibly rewarding as teachers to be able to help our students through confidence issues, nailing moves they never thought they’d be able to do.

Back to the beginning...
Anyone who has ever taught Pole and decided to set up their own studio, this post is for you.
Once upon a time long before we got our own studio we used to be called London Academy of Poledancing.
First we worked in clubs, then we began hiring gyms and dance studios, putting poles up and down 7 days a week.
As the popularity of Poledancing grew so did our classes, most days we would get home after midnight, up again at 6am working 2 or 3 jobs.
With perseverance, loyalty and hard work we prepare to celebrate our 20th year in 2025.
Not everyone can understand, why we do it?
Is it worth all the bruises, tears, sleepless nights, and the bloody LA Fitness dust in our eyes?
