Yesterday's Christmas sail to Greenhithe was a great success with 29 sailors taking part. We had 4 yachts, 4 dinghy's and 3 safety boats.
Briefing was at 0945, with departure set for 11.00.
The weather was being kind with 6 degrees and 8 to 12 knots of wind.
We sailed down the river and under the QE2 bridge and on to Greenhithe. We had some time, so we sailed a little further down towards Thurrock Yacht Club.
It was then time to turn around and head back to Erith.
When I talked with the PLA port control earlier in the day, it was agreed that we would use the south side of the river on our return trip.
We arrived back at around 13.00 and started to recover all the boats.
At a little after 1400, we sat down to shepherd's pie.
Great hot food and plenty of it.
Thanks to Sara and her team.
The bar was open, and a few drinks were put away.
