CHRISTMAS EVE QUIZ!

The last social event of 2025 is coming up fast - the Christmas Eve Quiz 😀 Everyone is welcome at this family oriented event with seasonal questions alongside a focus on 2025.

Please do come and bring your extended family for a fun evening. The bar is open as usual but bring your own seasonal nibbles. Christmas jumpers are encouraged but not obligatory! 🤶

SSRC members – junior squash update from January 2026

From January, all junior squash coaching at Southgate will be delivered by Middlesex Junior Squash, working in partnership with DROP Shot Squash Academy. This moves junior coaching to a single, county-led structure aligned with Middlesex’s wider development programme.

The timing works well as Brendon will be out of the country for around three months. The change has his full support, and he will remain the main coach at Southgate when he returns.

This is a positive step for Southgate – strengthening our junior offer, improving county links, and helping us grow junior membership. The arrangement is fully supported by the SSRC Committee.

Going forward, any enquiries about junior coaching should go via the Middlesex Junior Squash channels, not directly through the club or individual coaches.

Big team effort yesterday!

Three SSRC members headed down to Brighton to collect the glassback from the University of Sussex. Safely loaded, transported back to the club, with extra hands helping on arrival and kind storage offered by the Scouts – job done ✅

Now just to get it installed… watch this space! 👀💪

We had great time at our BBQ & Play today! loads of fun on and off the court!

Last night Southgate hosted our very own squash team awards night - The Squashies!

Huge shoutout to Captains Karen Wilkinson and Alex Mead for hosting an unforgettable evening.

It was the perfect celebration of everything we’ve achieved this season, especially the amazing growth of women’s squash here in Southgate.

The vibes were high, the awards were flowing, and the community spirit was stronger than ever.

Thank you to all the players who gave it their all this season and to everyone who came along last night!

🏆 Squash Competition Recap – What a Weekend! 🏆

This past weekend saw an incredible display of squash talent, passion, and sportsmanship at our latest competition! 🔥

A huge congratulations to Mark Clarke, who took home the E Grade title, and to Ade Opanuga, who not only won the D Grade competition but was also crowned Player of the Tournament for their outstanding performances across the weekend! 🎉👏

A massive thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and helped make this event such a success. Keep an eye out for the women’s competition next weekend (Feb 15th) – you won’t want to miss it! 💪🏽🏅

🚨The Southgate Open 2025, a fantastic day of tournament squash is taking place at the Walker Ground tomorrow! Matches start from 8.45am until 8.45pm, it would be amazing if people come along and support the tournament and our own players! 🦾

🎉 We had an amazing turnout at the quiz last night! It was great to see so many familiar faces and new ones joining in on the fun.

We had two Southgate teams playing matches this week.

The ladies' team faced a tough opponent away at Clissold, losing 3-1. Big well done to Karen Wilkinson for winning her match 3-0!
A message from the captain: "Well played team - some good close matches and great team spirit!"

The Men's 1's team faced rival Oakleigh and took a decisive 3-2 victory. There were some amazing performances with wins from Sean, John and Max CUtner. From this victory, the team currently sits second and is pushing for promotion!

Well done everyone and onto the next!

Congratulations to all our winners and runners-up of the SSRC racketball finals night 2024! It was an excellent night filled with fierce competition and great spirits. Big thank you to everyone who came out and watched, I hope everyone had a fun night.
