How lonely are you in business?

Do you want to admit it?

Life is hard let alone when you run a business. It's about someone having your back, someone to turn to when you need help, a community who will listen without them wanting anything from you including a sale!!

Yes, I did say that. You know why? I sat next to someone today and I was embarrassed because all he wanted to do was sell.

This is not about the sale, it's about people, it's about you, it's about me.

This poster says it all. Call don't fall. It means you shouldn't be relying on yourself including in business.

I've felt lonely, I feel lonely now. I have so much going on and yet I am alone. But I have a circle to talk to, to ask advice, use as a soundboard and just listen.

Being lonely increases our stress and in turn that affects our health. Without our health, we have nothing. Stress can affect our well being in many different ways, mentally, physically and spiritually.

Mentally, we cannot think straight, making us make bad decisions. We don't have any clarity which means our focus is off and we lose touch with our destination. The journey starts to become automated with no growth.

Physically, we feel tired, we go to bed earlier, we feel lazy, no energy, we slow down. We stop exercising, we take the car rather than walking, our skin feels different, we start to ache, we struggle.

Spiritually, our purpose becomes disconnected, things happen to us and us alone, or so we think! We question why we exist, why we do what we do, we want to give it all up!

Yes, we all feel like this.

But help is out there. I want to be part of the solution. I want to build a community not a membership.

I want you to be part of it.

I don't want a big group. You see lots of groups here on FB, boasting about the number of members. But, really deep dive. Where are all these people? They don't engage.

I want us, you and me, to be 250 strong. Big enough to matter, to make change, to be supportive but small enough to build meaningful relationships.

Are you one of those?

£1 per day.

That's cheaper than a coffee per day but will give support that lasts forever.

I need your help though, I cannot do it alone.

What do you have in common with this haystack?

It's all alone, in the field, the others having been picked up for storage somewhere.

And you? You are feeling alone in your business. You know what you're doing, trade wise, but it's the running of the business is where you may not feel too confident.

It's also a mental health thing too.

Did I mention I won another award?

I've just watched the Louis Theroux documentary on the manosphere.

Have you seen it?

I've been hearing about it over this week and decided to see what it's all about.

Now that I've seen it, I'm confused but also not surprised and somewhat disappointed.

It's true that to get more views, you need to be controversial. That can come in many ways and in this case being rude, misogynistic, exist, in fact anything wrong or bed seems to count.

Some things I did agree with, others not so much.

I do agree with creating your own life, following your own dreams but I feel these guys on the programme were, in themselves, confused and actually only playing up to the camera - do as I say not as I do scenarios.

Success is not all about the money.

I'm still trying to unravel what I've seen but let me male this clear - we are all individuals who have a place in society. You need to understand your identity and live by your values.

Your beliefs run your world - you can change them, if need be, based on evidence.

These influencers seemed like the only thing was to make money regardless of their own views. It didn't matter what they said so long as the content was controversial enough to get the views.

It is worrying that these people are role models and don't take any responsibility to the outcomes they are creating, so long as they're making money.

Their content encourages purchasing, what is questionable, especially when what they sell goes against what they say. Confusing?!

One said that you have to be good at selling but morals and values still have their place. Surely?! Or can you see the comparison with sales people you know?

Carry on the conversation....

Something I've noticed becoming more prominent these days is the requirement to have some kind of sustainability policy within your business before other businesses will even look at you.

Have you noticed this?

Do you have one?

In the corporate world, they call it CSR, corporate social responsibility.

Don't worry, I've got you covered.

In ProsprHub, not only do you get a safe and non-judgemental place to find solutions from your peers and get the accountability you need, you can also tick those boxes for CSR.

Our members support each other thus creating a community that align with the triple bottom line - people, planet, profit.

We involve the community of business owners, we are philanthropic, giving to local charity each month and we plant trees for the environment.

All this is included in your membership.

Comment below or DM me for a call back chat to see if you're suitable to join.

Be careful what you say to your potential customers.

Last week I had to buy a new tyre for the car. I'm not sure how but I managed to get a slow puncture, which I tried to see how long it would last - not long as it happens.

I was speaking to an acquaintance and the subject of the tyre came up. He mentioned a person who could help so I thought, great a trusted referral.

I got straight in touch. The quote came in. I've got to be honest, I was shocked! 😮

I expected the quote to be a little more than I found earlier as he was a mobile fitter, convenience with a price tag.

However, it was over £100 more, which was a 65% increase in the price. I responded that it was that much more and the reply shocked me even more!

He said I needed to be wary of cheap quotes as usually they scam you with tyres that may not be brand new, a part worn tyre and not run flat.

The quote I originally has was from multiple internet sites for high street names plus others, all were in the same ballpark.

I do my homework.

The product he was offering was not a premium product, it was the exact product I wanted and could be supplied by everyone else.

The only reason for the uplift, as he said, would be that he's mobile and you pay for convenience.

In some ways, I cannot agree as his overheads are a lot less than a fixed shop but it is more convenient.

He lost a customer that day and any other day in the future because of the way I was treated - I didn't feel welcome because I dared to highlight the anomaly.

I train in customer service and the way that was handled, in my opinion, was poor. He didn't even try to negotiate and felt justified in his pricing.

What do you think?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

The importance of a small win.

When you're focusing on achieving your goals, you may lose hope or feel overwhelmed by the task ahead.

This means you actually lose focus and begin to procrastinate. The goal then seems to get further and further away with you feeling less happy with yourself.

The spiral begins, the direction of travel being downward.

It also means you're trying to do too much. Slow down, take a breath and review what you're doing.

Start to chunk down on the goal in question and make the task smaller.

Just now I was talking about the small wins with a client. He was talking chopsticks!

He's never used chopsticks before and the opportunity came up at the weekend to try.

Boom!

Success! OK, he didn't become proficient on his first go but he did make progress and more importantly, didn't go hungry.

He felt fabulous!

The quick win.

That quick win leads to more confidence. That confidence growth leads to more focus. That focus leads to achieving the new smaller task you set yourself.

That small win turns into the big win.

That goal is now within reaching distance all because of the small win. Try it now, surprise yourself, become more confident and more focused.

Working IN your business is one thing, working ON your business is another.

We are responsible for ourselves as there's no one else to turn to. That's why you need to set goals and follow through.

I'm not going to go through the goal setting process here but what you can do for accountability.

Again, it's better to be part of an accountability group as we are our own worst enemy and, given half a chance, we will not follow through!

Each week/fortnite/month you should be reviewing your performance - what have you done in that time, what issues are you having and how are you addressing them, what objectives do you have for the next period and what steps are you going to take.

Write it down, that way your brain understands action needs to be taken. Join ProsprHub and you'll get accountability via the app, but if you need more, I can help!

Are you ready to grow, in yourself and your business?

Comment, message, DM, do what you need to do to progress in 2026. Make this year count.
