Islington Boxing Club

Last night, Islington Boxing Club senior boxer Hanif El-Hafadi was invited to the House of Lords by Lord Roe of West Wickham to take part in a special boxing demonstration the first, and possibly the only time we will see a boxing ring inside Parliament!

The event highlighted the many positive benefits of boxing, including discipline, confidence, fitness and community. This was also building up excitement ahead of the first London Fire Brigade Dinner Show in November which will benefit several charities including those affected by the Grenfell Tower Disaster.

It was a fantastic evening, attended by boxers and coaches from across GB including 3 of the recently crowned Commonwealth Games gold medalists, as well as the Mayor of London and a number of other distinguished guests.

The squad completed laps around the stadium, sprints on the slopes and a tough session on the stairs as they continue working hard towards a return to in-ring action.

🕊️ In Memory of Benjamin Nkromah

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of our former Junior Academy coach, Benjamin Nkromah.

‘Big Ben’ was a valued member of Islington Boxing Club and a great asset to our club during his time with us.

Everyone at Islington Boxing Club sends our heartfelt condolences to Ben’s family, friends, and all who knew him during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest in peace. You will be remembered and greatly missed.
