🥈 SILVER FOR MERTON! 🏐🔥

A stunning performance from Team Merton at the 2026 London Youth Games Girls Volleyball competition, finishing as London Youth Games Silver Medallists! 👏💙💛 A huge shout out to and and Mr Xu for their support.

The girls played with incredible teamwork, determination and spirit throughout the entire day, representing Merton brilliantly from start to finish.

Savannah, one of our Merton volleyball players, said:
“This is our 4th year at the London Youth Games now, and this is the furthest we’ve made it. I think the Youth Games is a really good competition for London. It just brings everyone together, and the environment is so good — whether you win or lose, the vibes are so positive.”

We’re so proud of all of our athletes across recent competitions:
🏀 Basketball Boys & Girls both finished 13th last week and represented Merton superbly
🏐 Boys Volleyball also secured a strong 9th place finish

🏃‍♂️ TCS London Mini Marathon in Schools 2026

🌟 As many of you will know, over the past few months the TCS London Mini Marathon in Schools has been taking place across the capital.

📊 In London alone, a record-breaking 749 schools signed up, reaching an incredible 190,543 children and young people, helping to inspire more young people than ever before to be active.

🥈 Turning our focus to the Borough of Merton, we are proud to share that it achieved 2nd place across all London boroughs, with an impressive 49 schools taking part (66% of all schools in the borough) — a truly outstanding achievement.

🤝 Since February, we have worked alongside schools to support delivery, organise local park events, and engage local councillors to attend and see the Mini Marathon in Schools in action.

🙏 A huge thank you to every child, member of staff, and local councillor involved for their incredible enthusiasm, commitment and support.

🚀 We’ll be back even stronger next year — watch this space!

We are an award-winning sports coaching company, currently working with over 40 schools across South West London, providing flexible, reliable and engaging support for schools. We provide outstanding extra-curricular clubs for schools looking to explore new opportunities and increase participation.

TCS Mini Marathon Championships 2026 🏃‍♂️

SMSC were so proud to take over 40 Team Merton athletes to run the iconic final 2.6km of the TCS London Marathon route 🙌

🤝 SMSC is approaching an incredibly exciting time, and we want you to be a part of it.

📺 WEEKEND SUMMARY 📺

🙌🏼 As each week passes, we continue to see some incredible moments to be extremely proud of. This weekend was certainly no different!

1️⃣ Our first highlight is the Surrey Schools District Tournament. Our SMSC coaches took the Merton girls, Sutton girls and Merton boys football teams to Woking and observed a fantastic standard from start to finish. Merton boys claimed a brilliant win, taking home the trophy. That wasn’t the only piece of silverware from the tournament, with the Sutton girls claiming the trophy in wonderful style. Huge shoutout to Merton girls for coming 2nd in such a hotly-contested tournament.

2️⃣ Now we look to our next highlight. On Saturday, the London Youth Games Judo event took place. Team Merton had 25 talented athletes representing them. The standard on display was through the roof. Merton’s Girls team were ruthless from start to finish, claiming 2nd out of the whole of London. A huge success for all involved! Merton’s boys team claimed 8th spot, another top effort from their team.

3️⃣ Our final highlight is yesterday’s football. After such a long Easter break, it was amazing to see 40 Westside teams take to the field. What a brilliant day out for our teams and managers!

🤝 We would like to thank all players, officials, coaches and parents for their efforts and support for not just this weekend, but all weekends!

🧠SAFEGUARDING AND CRICKET CPD

📅 Last Friday morning, team SMSC took part in an internal safeguarding refresher regarding all of our school work and camp work.

📍 At midday, our team of coaches arrived at the fantastic facilities at The Wimbledon Club.

🏏 During the afternoon, our coaches were given a masterclass on how to coach cricket in schools by Jonathan Speller, the club’s sporting director.

🤝 We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at the Wimbledon Club for the incredible hospitality, session and facilities. Our coaches took so much information away from the session which they will implement in to their coaching methods moving forwards.
