Anybody else as rubbish as me at getting round to stretching?
I find it really really dull
And yep having studied so much in biomechanics over the years Iβm super aware of how important it is not only to keep pain & injuries away but how much it helps performance
My stupid broken hip is playing up & Iβm starting to get a lot of resultant back pain
- and still
I wasnβt doing the right things to help myself
Like most people, my worldβs a bit turbulent & tough, and I find in these times you need to be kinder and make things as easy as possible
- itβs not the time for me to be ambitious- I donβt have the energy to sustain the motivation needed right now
So today, having my 9:30 cancelled, Iβve come to one of my favourite places, and am holding some stretches, with the background of a gaggle of geese chatting to one another, the sun shining,
and so it becomes all about what a magical place this is and how lucky I am to be here
The dull boring stretches are barely a thought π€ π
Make it easy on yourselves

Hey, howβs your Sunday?
Here I feel like balance restored, and back to me a bit.
The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a pickle for me and there are a couple of people being monkeys, which just makes a tough part tougher
I was wondering if Iβd find them so tough if other things were working a bit better, but it doesnβt work like that does it?

Sometimes I get caught in my own head, and for any of you out there who are self employed too, youβll know this is not very helpful at all. Somehow you need to find that self motivation, but sometimes despite knowing what you βshouldβ be doing, you struggle to motivate yourself to do that.
β¨
Running is my tonic, it balances my brain. It always has.
β¨
When I raced, it was because it balanced a job that was so stressful and gave me the energy to handle the job and the political games that were played.
Iβve been self employed now for 2-4 years (4 years officially, 2 years since being able to jog / see / speak again post the accident). This is the first time Iβve come across another self employed person acting like a bit of a dick. Itβs sad, itβs a shame.

But Iβm back in my happy place, thanks to the beauty of running.
β¨
I sometimes question what I want to deliver in coaching - my main aim is to make people live happier lives, and I fundamentally believe outdoors, movement, progress and people are key parts of it.
Would you add anything else?
There are a lot of amazingly good people in the world, keep yourselves surrounded by them
And have an utterly wonderful weekend

One of the guys said this was one of the reasons he started with us
- he could get brilliant coaching, but not need to be surrounded by intimidating elites to get it
- I know how hard it can be to motivate yourself, so we always start super steadily to ease you in (which is also a far more effective way to optimise your training too!)
And I coach via effort - so you run at your pace at the effort to get the most out of your current fitness level
Come give it a try β¨ππ»ββοΈπβ¨ππ»ββοΈπβ¨
PS we are running tomorrow 7:45 as normal
A nice steady run to start the week right
This one will be technique focused with prompts to help you sort out your running form
