Congratulations to our veteran player Vicki who was invited to join the NHC team at the inaugural Vets Teams Comp in Walsall yesterday, winning Bronze!!

British Veterans National Teams!

Yesterday the Midland Area hosted the inaugural British Veterans National Teams. Fielded as a test event it attracted a small entry in each category (M/F 1-2, 3-4, 5-6) which unfortunately meant that a 3-4 and 5-6 age band could not run.

A M/F 1-2 pool of 3 full teams ran, thank you to the West (Bristol), Yorkshire & Humberside and NHC for their support. Congratulations to Bristol emerging victorious.

The event had continued the same energy as the National Teams the day before, with some tactical, some explosive and some moments of drama! The players did themselves proud!

There were former National Squad players returning for more glory, players pulled out of retirement for the event, veterans players who started the sport as adults, players returning to the sport as adults after training as children and some that have never stopped! A great testament to our community!

Next year, 2027, the event will run again, but we hope to have an M/F1-3 and M/F4-6 groupings with no requirement to enter as an area. It will either be ran after the British Veterans Closed if held in July or the Heart of England in September (which also has a veterans event).

Congratulations to Michael winning Gold at the Kent U16 Split-grade Open, pictured here with his Dad (Coach) Jeno and friend of the club Oscar.

Congratulations to our Cadet players Michael and Alex representing Stratford Judokwai at the British Championships on Saturday in Nottingham. Both Michael and Alex fought in a tough U50kg group, demonstrating some fine attacking judo and securing wins by Ippon. Michael won his way through to the final, winning Silver and Alex secured 7th place. Many thanks to Sensei Danny for his mat side support.
