"I used to be so tiny". "When I was younger I weighed a lot less". I'm heavier than I should be according to my doctor"... Firstly, we all used to be smaller. Or bigger. Stop comparing yourself to what you were, our bodies change. Be FITTER and STONGER with BETTER EATING. Maybe you used to be smaller than you should be!
Next up, weight. Look, those numbers on the scale don't tell the story of health. As the pic shows, people have different frames. Ideal weight is a myth.
Lastly (and I appreciate that your Dr is highly educated and earns a lot more than I do, but) when it comes to sports, fitness and any other physical activity more strenuous than "a brisk walk a day", your GP really isn't the person to go to for advice. And his little weight chart is stupid (so ner).
