Starting from this Sunday 27 February 2022, GIRLS' Football is ON at SNYFC!!! Girls who are 11,12,13,14 years old (U12 to U15) are going to be welcome at the astro-pitch training ground of Stoke Newington School at the session from 1pm to 2pm!

At times it is very difficult to find the right words ... and this is one of those moments.

Football Season 2021-22 Note:

- Season has already started officially for our "big boys" of the Under/Over18s Elite Team playing at the Islington Midweek Football League in Market Road.

- "Pre-Season" is ON for ALL the other Teams and Groups, from the Under10s to the Under18s with the Training Sessions scheduled on Sundays and Thursdays at the Stoke Newington School's astro-pitch.

END of Football-Season 2020-21 NOTE _

Tomorrow Sunday 18 July 2021 is going to be the last session of the Football Season 2020-21! And what a season it was!

A massive applause goes to EVERYBODY involved; from the Parents/Carers to the Sponsores (Latin), from the Coaches to the Helpers ... and especially to the Players, the protagonists and main actors of this beautiful game!!!
Each and everyone has been crucial to the success of the season.

We will resume the activities at a date to be confirmed around the end of August/ beginning of September when, for the opening of the Football Season 2021-22, we will present:

- all our SNYFC Teams from the Under10s to the Under18s who will play in 4 different Leagues (Hackney Marshes Saturday YFL, Camden&Islington Midweek YFL, Hackney&Leyton Sunday League and Islington Midweek Football League)

- the Silverware won at the end of the Football Season 2020-21; we are still waiting to receive the Cups and Medals from the Hackney Marshes Saturday YFL while we have already been handed those from the Camden & Islington YFL.
We will cheer for our SNYFC Teams-Winners AND for our SNYFC Teams-Runners Up too ... (see post "The Value of a Defeat").

At the opening of the new Football Season 2021-22,
we will also randomly pick the 5 individuals who predicted the EURO 2020 Winner (ITALY) and we will hand them a prize each.

Stoke Newington under 17s claim Market Road league and cup double Stoke Newington FC under 17’s claimed a league and cup double at Market Road as the football season came to an end at the Islington football institution.

"The Value of a Defeat" _

Redefining what Winning and Losing or Winner and Loser mean to us, we/SNYFC think that "Loser is who does not try the hardest, individually and as a team".

Minding this, it is important to treasure the value of a defeat when our opponent is better than us, on a given day.
When this happens in sport (and in life) we learn something; we are not immediately sure how to improve but surely we feel that we must improve. And we have to find a way to improve.
Sport also dictates us to respect the oppositions' victory;
a victory that, again, when respected, gives value to our defeat.

During the latest Europa League and Champions League finals, we have witnessed different behaviours from the defeated teams.
One team had (the majority of) players receiving the silver medal who immediately dismissed the prize, getting it away from their neck.
The other team had (the majority of) players receiving the silver medal who greeted it and in some cases kissed it.

In this same" "Runner-Up" scenario,
SNYFC Coaches and Players will behave as people who respect the opposition, giving value to a defeat.
