As the Team England - Commonwealth Games, Kings Baton Relay continues across the country it takes a look at the sustainability work our partners are doing.
Ellie Simmonds led a beach clean ahead of the Commonwealth Games at West Kirby beach alongside Merseyside Sports Partnership (MSP), volunteers and many more!
This initiative was part of the Commonwealth Clean Oceans Plastics Campaign which aims to stop at least one million pieces of plastic entering the world’s seas and oceans. Commonwealth Sport has teamed up with the Royal Commonwealth Society to tackle plastic pollution ahead of this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Our Chief Executive Simon Hayes welcomes the Government’s announcement to invest over £1 billion in school sport and PE over the next three years.
The investment includes £200 million to improve school sporting facilities, as well as £580m for a new PE and School Sport Partnerships Network to tackle inactivity in every primary and secondary school.

More funding for women and girls in football! ⚽
The Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation, backed by Sport England, has launched more funding for The Lionesses HERe to Play Fund.
With the number of girls playing football in England doubling over the last four years and nearly 300,00 women playing every month, it is vital to have more opportunities for women and girls than ever before.
Between May and September, the Lionesses HERe To Play Fund will provide two different amounts for organisations to apply for.
