FIXTURES | Saturday 3rd October

Slowly but surely we are getting there. Nearly all sides in action this weekend as pitches are beginning to come back across the league. We have six sides playing this weekend including a first competitive game for the first team this season, at home to Honourable Artillery Company. After each side won a match apiece last year it should be a good contest.

3s host Old Blues at home whilst the Vets make it three games at Kings House, taking on Old Thorntonians at 3pm.

Three teams are travelling away from home this weekend on the lookout for three points, including the 4s who travel to Dorking to take on Dorkinians, the 5s who play South Bank Cuaco and the 6s who take on Old Suttonians.

The 2s have a weekend off because of congested fixtures but have a deserved break after starting the season 3 from 3.

THANK YOU!

As we head into another weekend, with the 2026/27 season well underway, the Club would like to thank Sorin Nedelcu, Joe Lockett and Anton Davies for all their work as Club Managers over the last few years. All three stepped down ahead of this season but we’re hugely grateful for all of their effort and hard work over the last few seasons, contributing massively to the Club.

Sorin took over the running of the Club’s 4th team in 2022/23. Despite suffering a horrendous injury halfway through last season, he was ever present around his side and led them brilliantly on and off the pitch, with his typical passion and dedication - and amazing pre match speeches! We’re delighted Sorin remains an active member of the Club, and over the summer he joined the Exec Committee, where he will be leading on the Clubs IT and website going forward.

Joe and Anton stepped up to jointly manage our 6th team in 2024/25, then our 5th team last season. We wish Anton the best of luck as he makes the move across the pond. Joe will still be around the Club, albeit less frequently, so couldn’t be convinced to stay on for one more year! But we thank them both massively for taking on the responsibility of running a side and doing so with such a big smile on their faces, being a joy to work with, play with and play under.

Thank you, gents. The next few beers are on us when you’re down at the Clubhouse. 👊🙌

Saturday 26th September | The day the Football Association recognised our extraordinary history.

On Saturday just gone, the Football Association came down to King’s House and honoured our great Club, marking our extraordinary unbroken record of playing football continuously since 1863.

As a Club, we were presented with a commemorative plaque by FA Chair Debbie Hewitt, recognising Civil Service FC’s unique place in football history. The award acknowledges Civil’s role as one of the eleven founding clubs that established The Football Association in 1863, and celebrates our distinction as the only surviving founder club to have played association football continuously since that date.

We would like to thank Pete Worster, CEO of the CSSC, who joined us on Saturday and spoke fantastically alongside Debbie and Jim.

We would also like to thank club legend Paul Kane, who produced a superb piece of artwork as a gift to King’s House, presented as a token of our appreciation for their continued support of the Club as our ground owners.

A truly special day for everyone connected with Civil Service FC, and another chapter in the history of our remarkable Club.

Saturday 19th September | Results

Second gameweek of the season saw a good day for the Club, with five teams in action and a near clean sweep, resulting in four wins and one loss.

The 2s followed up their win last week against Shene with a comprehensive win away to Old Meads, with five different scorers. Rob’s side ran out winners with Sam Opoku claiming MOTM and Will McCarthy winning DOTD on his birthday.

The 3s lost keeper Panton to a bad ankle injury after twenty minutes, and Ashley George to a broken nose, but still won their first game of the season away to Wilsonians. Marcus continued his fine form from pre-season to secure the points.

The 4s faced a tough opposition at home and unfortunately came up just short, but last year’s club top goalscorer JB_onthegram👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 began his defence of the golden boot with a goal, which proves he will be tough competition to beat again this year.

The 5s got a great result away to Tiffinians to get George and Kiran their first win as new co-managers. Goals from Sam Pickford, following his first goal for the club last week, and a goal for captain Alex Gleave secured the points.

And the 6s got us the fourth and final win of the weekend, scoring four away to Sedcopians. Club legend netted a brace on his first start of the season to get Ed and Ondre up and running to start the season.

Training continues Wednesday before the big day next Saturday.

Saturday 19th September | Fixtures

After the season kicked off last week for the Vets and the 2s this weekend is the start for most of the other men’s teams. Kings House continues to get the TLC it needs from the groundsmen to make it ready for next weeks big weekend, so only one game at home.

Kuldeep and the 3s boys have 2s away

The 4s host Fulham Compton Old Boys FC 3s on the 3G, for Kings House’s only fixture of the day

The 5s travel to Old Tiffinians FC 4s where George and Kiran would want to get the first 3 points of the year

And to round us off the 6s then play Old Sedcopians FC 3s away for Ed and Ondre’s first game of the season.

A huge Saturday to kick start the season for the Club. Bring home those three points please gents!

FIXTURES | Saturday 12th September

Competitive football is back. After a long and hard pre season today marks the return of competitive football. Due to the lack of pitches at Kings House because of the Summer weather we have a reduced number of teams in action.

Nonetheless it’s a big set of fixtures for those involved.

2s kick off away to

Vets 1st XI host Old Tiffinians FC

Vets 2nd XI travel over the road to Bank of England

Saturday 5th September – Eric Young Trophy Regained 🏆

Following a full set of club fixtures against Old Meadonians, it was fantastic to see the Club regain the trophy yesterday with a clean sweep of results in our annual end-of-pre-season tournament

1s won 4-0 courtesy of goals from , and Joseph Martin who scored his first goals following his two year loan spell away from the Club.

2s won 3-2 with goals coming from Membership Secretary Ollie Downing and a double from the in form joshgreiner_

3s won 4-0 following a Sean Gibson hat trick and a goal from Marcus Napa.

4s won 4-1 courtesy of goals from Abdul, Illy and a double from the imperious Rob Maller

5s won 4-1 with goals from super Ollie Bampo Ollie Bampton, George Taylor, M@ for his first goal for the Club as well as an OG.

Vets won 3-2 following goal from Ross Exley and a double from Manager Paddy Carton.

We thank Old Meadonians FC and wish them the best of luck for the season.

This marks the formal end of pre-season, although it will be a staggered start to the season, with some teams beginning next week and others in the weeks that follow. Due to the summer we have had, the pitches need some additional time to be match-ready.

The next big date in the Club’s diary is Saturday 26th September, when we will be welcoming the FA to King’s House. Make sure that date is marked in your diary if it isn’t already!

Bank Holiday Saturday meant only one thing, pre season continued for the Club with three games. Despite the weather making it feel like a winters day, we had three games with plenty of goals.

1s ran out convincing winners against OLD ALLEYNIANS AFC ⚫️🔵 from the Arthurian League. Second half double on debut for Kristian Feed straight from the airport went alongside a brace from Jacob Horne and first goal for the club for Chris Wild.

The 2s/3s managed by Kuldeep came roaring back after being 4-1 down at half time to win 7-4 against , with four goals from MOTM Marcus. Some boy.

Unfortunately the 3s/4s came up just short against BRENT.F.C Reserves. A good side that have played together for a few years, a double from Abraham saw us push them close. A great effort considering we had so many new players in the squad.

2026/27 SOCIAL CALENDAR!

Big shout out to Social Secretary Will McCarthy for pulling together our Club Social Calendar ahead of the new season, marking the most important dates in the year.

We welcome all current and ex players to join us for these events, and giving everyone this much notice means there can be no excuses!

From socials at the Clubhouse, to a Cheltenham away day at the races, our annual European tour and end of season dinner in central London there’s plenty of things to get in the diary.

Going to be a big year on and off the pitch! 🔴⚫️
