What I learned from Buddhism….

As humans, we often find ourselves attached to various things in our lives, such as people, material possessions, and even our own ideas and beliefs. We cling onto them tightly and resist any change that might disrupt our sense of security and comfort. However, these attachments and resistances can also be the source of many of our sufferings.

That's where the practice of non-attachment and non-resistance comes in. It is a teaching that encourages us to let go of our attachments and embrace the impermanence of life. At its core, it is the understanding that everything in life is transient, and nothing lasts forever.

When we practice non-attachment, we let go of our clinging to things and people, and we accept that everything is in a constant state of change. It doesn't mean that we stop caring or being connected to the people and things we love, but rather, we cultivate a sense of detachment that allows us to approach those connections with greater ease and without the fear of losing them.

Similarly, non-resistance encourages us to live in the present moment and accept whatever comes our way without trying to control or resist it. It is a practice grounded in the belief that every experience is an opportunity to learn and grow. Instead of fighting against challenging situations or undesirable circumstances, we allow ourselves to be open to what they have to teach us.

"This too shall pass" is another teaching that aligns with the principles of non-attachment and non-resistance. It reminds us that everything in life is temporary, and even the most difficult situations will eventually come to an end. This phrase serves as a powerful mantra to remember during challenging times when we may feel overwhelmed or stuck.

Practicing non-attachment and non-resistance can be a powerful way to cultivate a healthier and more fulfilling outlook on life. It helps us let go of the things that no longer serve us and make space for more joy and growth in our lives. By embracing impermanence and accepting whatever comes our way, we can find peace in the present moment and approach life with greater ease and resilience.
