Sometimes the answer isn’t losing weight but altering the composition of the body. A lack of muscle mass gives way a high amount of body fat and makes the fat you do have looks like more than it is.

Strength training is the best sustainable fat loss method, notice I said fat loss not weight loss.

I achieved a full-body transformation. These are the Mistakes I made along the way and how you can avoid them.

1; Not enough weight and too little rest between sets.

Rest 3 minutes or more between your non-warm-up sets
You want your sets to be 0-3 reps short of failure

2; Chasing a six-pack in the beginning in the gym and kitchen before building a good strong foundation.

The abs are built over time as your entire body gets stronger and visible abs will require a really low body fat and without the solid base, you will just look skinny like I did.

3; Not focusing on a variety of compound movements.

For the upper body, this means lifts involving horizontal pushes horizontal pulls vertical pushes vertical pulls.

For the lower body, this means knee extensions and hip hinges

4; Not enough Lean protein in my meals

Protein is needed to build muscle and is less calorie dense.

5; Going too heavy and sacrificing form

From half reps to lifting with too much momentum you can easily risk sprains and pains that reduce results and also delay your progression.

A throwback to when Milton first started with me in February and we were working on his squat depth to put him on the path to getting bigger stronger legs.

He struggled with his depth at first but with some changes such as squatting without the improper shoes and the use of driving with the hips.

Don't make the mistake of loading up multiple plates on the bar without learning the proper range of motion.

Recording your sets can go a long way in the journey of improvement.

The deep reasons for wanting to be healthier would be wanting to healthier would be living longer to see your grandchildren. A reason to want to be fitter would be to be able to engage in physical activities with your children.

Your deep reason could be that as you get bigger and stronger you are respected as a leader or role model amongst your family, friends, those you work with and others you may meet in life.

For many it is just for the mental benefits and bringing yourself back up after experiencing something such as a break up.

There could be many reasons but it is up to you to think about what you are unhappy with in life and apply how being fitter healthier bigger and stronger would help you.
