Hey Kanga's. Hope everyone is doing well and fully emerged and fighting fit from your winter slumber. This is just a quick heads up of when the touch footy games will commence which is a bit later than prior years.
Our first social game will be Wednesday May 31st from 6pm. Our usual spot on Clapham Common between The Windmill and La Baita Cafe.
We will play each Wednesday night after that. And the summer league competition is scheduled to start June 28th. Cheers !

Game report - Rd.6 Aug 31st. Liabilities v Forward & Boks. Boks Forwards Matty and Ian were running like "headless chickens" but it was effective.. The pink defenders resembled "deer in the headlights". At halftime the Boks had a 6pt margin.
In the 2nd half liabs Georgie pulled down some outrageous marks..Dan P & Trent also influential. But Boks Johnny somehow kept them all at bay. Marcus 2nd put them 13pts up with a few mins to go. But Butch scored with 30secs to go-a super goal could win it. The centre clearance fell to Tom and he booted it long and strong but no pink forward on the end of it. It went out of bounds...20 secs to go and the Boks had the clearance... But at half-back a 50/50 ball came unstuck and it found Butch who chipped it up for Georgie in space who marked just 10 metres out with 2 secs left on the clock! A kick after the siren was to decide this one. Georgie took a big deep breath... And stepped in to kick. Not much levitation..more a ground ball but it had some pe*******on and no one was covering the left side of the goal. Butch held out the defenders. Would it roll in?? Oh my.. It hit the post flush. How close can it be! The Boks secured their first win of the season!! Jacket waving.. Scarf waving.. It was wild scenes indeed. What a game!

G'day Kangas. first game this Wed night Aug 31st @6.35pm. Liabilities v Forward & Boks. Then Touchy Touchy social game 7.20pm then off to Gigalum 8.15pm for drinks. See you there!

Match report Aug 24st! Another hot one.. and lots of fun and games. it started with some fancy creative headware modelled by Chrissy and Georgie. then we saw more creativity out on the field care of defenders Colin and Will weaving their way through their red opponents. so much so it made star red man Phil retire to the bench suffering dizzy spells. Tom and the double Dan attack all playing well. so to Jc and Trent and Steve linked in well by hand. 12pts the diff at halftime. Phil returned for 2nd half but then Trent broke down with a dodgy pinky..so Chris back on. The umpire felt the pressure when Jc claimed a mark off a kick off the kneecap. Not below the knee the umpire explained.. it was all getting very tense. and it was in the last minute as dark clouds and thunder passed over us... just 6 points in it. The ball went forward but a huge saving mark by Phil saved the day for the reds and it remained a 6 point margin at the final whistle. well done to all that played!

G'day Kangas. we will back playing two games this Wed night Aug 24th & 7.45pm. expecting alot of colour...Reds/Blues/Blacks/Pinks ! As for who plays who this will be confirmed after speaking to the 4 captains. See you gameday!

Match report Aug 17th. Hot day again and so too the contested footy. Black topped Col with wonderful interceptions and drive from the back line. Marcus, Phil & Chris all finding space for the Reds but the Blacks were far cleaner in finding their forwards just their kicking letting them down. In fact their first 9 shots on goal were all points..perhaps a Kanga Footy record - well played Ian & JP!
When they finally got 2 goals from Ian the Reds responded.. and scored by new UK recruit Georgie - a wonderful super goal. But inspired by the full moon the Blacks took control again in the 3rd and final phase thanks to Johnny and Laurence and killing off the Reds for a 17 point win. Forward and Boks captain Ian finally felt what it is like to get a win.. and after the game he could not hold back the tears. Great stuff!
