We seek to ensure that everyone has access to the knowledge and resources they need to be safe and well at work.
By addressing disparities affecting mobile workers, migrant workers, neurodivergent workers and those in high‑risk sectors we sought to provide a voice to overlooked, forgotten or marginalised communities.

The GMB Union’s "PPE Fit for All" campaign, led by Melanie Bartlett and Lynsey Mann, is changing the approach to designing - for too long it's focused on a scaled down version of what men wear ("shrink it and pink it"). With the launch of the Inclusive PPE Charter and the new BS 30417 standard, safety is finally being designed for every body.
Key actions for employers:
🔎Audit & Procure: Move beyond "standard" sizes to inclusive ranges.
👷♀️Fit-Test: Conduct real-world trials on the diverse bodies actually doing the work.
🖋️Sign the Charter: Join leaders like BAE Systems and EDF in committing to fit-to-form protection.

Safety shouldn’t be a "one size fits all" compromise. 🏗️🛡️
For years, PPE has been designed for the "average" worker, leaving many - especially women and those with different body types - at risk. If equipment doesn't fit, it doesn't protect.
The CIOB’s campaign is changing that narrative:
• BS 30417:2025: A new British Standard ensuring PPE is inclusive of gender, body shape, and cultural needs.
• Safety First: Moving beyond "pink hard hats" to focus on fundamental protection.
• Industry-Wide: Impacting construction, healthcare, and emergency services.

By 2066, nearly half of the UK population will be aged 50 or over. Yet, ageism remains the most widespread form of discrimination in the country, with 1 in 3 older workers reporting poor treatment due to their age. 📉
It is time to challenge the stereotypes, says Tracy Riddell at the Centre for Ageing Better
From deep institutional knowledge to mentorship, the value of a multigenerational workforce is undeniable.

Despite 1 in 7 people in the UK being neurodivergent, only 22% of autistic adults are in full-time work. Stigma remains a major barrier, yet research shows that neurodiverse teams are 30% more productive when their unique strengths are harnessed.
Creating a neuroinclusive workplace is about:
🎧Tailored Adjustments: Think flexible hours, noise-cancelling headphones, and fixed desks over hot-desking.
💬Clear Communication: Use literal language, provide meeting agendas in advance, and respect individual communication preferences.
🖌️Culture Shift: Move from "managing challenges" to celebrating skills like pattern recognition and creative problem-solving.

🫂 People are at the heart of safety. All of our work recognises that impact that work can have on lives, families and communities, not just balance sheets.
🇮🇳 In India, we were proud to fund community led training reaching 13,000+ migrant and informal workers in India, many of whom face the highest risks and least protection.

Indoor air quality can directly affect concentration, decision-making, productivity, and overall wellbeing, yet it’s often overlooked in workplace health and safety strategies.
Research shows that poor ventilation and increased indoor pollutants can contribute to headaches, fatigue, reduced cognitive performance, and lower productivity, even at relatively common indoor levels.
Our latest blog explores:
• How indoor air quality affects the brain and body
• The link between ventilation, cognition, and workplace performance
• Practical steps organisations can take to create healthier indoor environments
