Today we’re celebrating 15 years of World Prematurity Day!✨ World Prematurity Day 2023, small actions BIG IMPACT: immediate skin-to-skin care for every baby everywhere. This year the theme of World Prematurity Day is the importance of skin-to-skin care. Also known as kangaroo care, immediate skin-to-skin care plays a vital part in the well-being of premature babies. We spoke to Aniko, one of our neonatal consultants, who has shared some valuable insights into how important skin-to-skin care is and how Imperial are implementing this care. Skin-to-skin care helps in a number of ways, including regulating temperature, fostering a strong bond with parents and supporting breastfeeding.
