Rigging Silks on a Rescue 8
We often get asked by people how to rig their silks, so we thought we would show you how you can rig on a Rescue 8.
1) Find the middle of your silks. The easiest way to do this is to match up the ends of the tails and flake out the silks until you find the middle.
2) Once you have the middle, it’s time to thread it through your Rescue 8. Pass the centre of the silk through the lower, larger hole.
3) Take the centre between the tails and through the larger hole again before pulling the centre over the top of the Rescue 8.
4) Pull the tails apart to set the silks, and you’re good to go!
SAFETY NOTE: This knot is dangerous when tied incorrectly – know your knots well before you rig! Knowledgeable performers are safe performers.

Next up is the knot 🪢 taught by
A figure of 8 knot on a bight creates a secure non-slipping loop at the working end of the rope. The loop can be used to attach the end of the rope to a fixed object or a piece of equipment, tie a life safety rope around a person, or to create loops for anchoring systems. We often use this at our space to attach rope to floor anchor point.

Barrel Knot
A Barrel Knot is an adjustable knot used to “lock” carabiners in and prevent them from cross-loading. It is most commonly used in pulley and rescue systems.
Top Tip: This is a slip knot which tightens when loaded. In a pre-use check, the knot should be adjusted for length and loaded; the tail should also be tightened. If the knot is not adequately tightened the wraps may work loose and come undone.
CAUTION: This knot is dangerous if tied incorrectly! Know your knots.
