😀 New bodyweight strength and toning class just starting in the Battersea Area.

➡️ We are just launching a new class at Fresh Ground () on Battersea Rise. Come and get a great full body workout, with a great trainer, at this great venue just by the top of Northcote Road. You’re guaranteed to have great abs by the end of 1(ish) session(s).

🧐 One of life’s great problems: most regular people get WAY better results from short, frequent, minimalistic workouts. But the trouble is, there’s just so much we want to do, so much we want to develop, so much sculpting to be done, so many exercises to choose from, so many muscles that need a good time. So what on earth are we to do?!

🤯 It’s simple really: one should follow The Strength Sessions eternally rotating, 4-month training programme template of wonder.

I’m not saying this just to 18-year olds. I’m saying it to 38-year olds, 53 year olds and other folks who, — like me — love to panic, then joke about how old they suddenly are.

You can get More-Athletic as you get older —> Start entertaining it. Start planning it. Start living it.

Unless you’re one of the few percent of athletes doing everything right straight away, right now… you’ve got serious gains to make. You’re leaving money on the table / muscle in the gym and nutrients in the supermarket… Or something.

You can train smarter and get more out of it. You can eat better and get more from it. You can dump the junk and stop punishing your body.

Plus you can do new s**t. New skills. New moves. Stuff you’ve never even tried that you had no idea about when you were a younger human person.

Don’t train like an oldie. Don’t resign yourself to getting older, more feeble, more passive.

Bring back some damn ambition and up your training and nutrition.

Train to get More-Athletic.

That’s my goal anyway.

‼️Strength Habits!

🤠In all honesty I only made this masterpiece to figure out how the captions works on the Instagram.

‼️Anyways, I still have a valid useful point thing:

➡️ Building 5 minute strength workouts into your life ON TOP of your current routine is one of the best things you can do for your health and physique goals.

➡️ You can’t always rely on getting to the gym and doing full workouts. Well, I can’t anyway, and I’ve met a few others like me. Well, not quite like me, but you know…

➡️ To get started, pick one move, one area of the body you particularly want to work on, pick an exercise that doesn’t take too much warming up and start trying to get 5 minutes or a few quick sets of it done most days.

➡️ Or don’t, you know, just a suggestion…feel free to ask me what would compliment your training perfectly.

⚠️ Don’t let your mind stop you!

⚠️ Don’t let it talk you out of getting amazing workouts wherever you are.

‼️’Cause it doesn’t matter where you are. It matters what you do.

‼️‼️You can get a great workout anywhere.

⚠️ If getting to the gym is a barrier, don’t go to the gym.

💡Work on your home gym arena instead. Make it better. Work out the best options. What can you use your chairs for? What can you use to squat on? How can you clear space to make it feel like a good training spot? Can you buy one or two bits of equipment or a decent mat that will make you feel more like training, and to make the space feel more proper?

✔️You can get in amazing shape training from home. Don’t let your mind talk you out of it. Work on your set up and get stuck in.

✔️With every passing workout, training from home will feel more and more natural and habitual to you.

‼️Then you’ll reap all the benefits of consistency and convenience that training from home gives you.

✔️ In training, it’s good to take a normal exercise like the lunge and tweak it to your needs.

✔️ Here we adjust the lunge so we can do 20 reps really rather quickly. Kind of like a sprint. Or a sprint lunge, if you will.

✔️ With moves like this, you’re still providing a rather tasty stimulus to your muscles, but you’re also testing that CV system too. Kinda like doing intervals.

✔️ On our ‘legs and core day’ this month, we first hit a couple of core drills, then we smash out some sprint lunges.

✔️ The more advanced you are, the more depth and speed you’ll be able to perform the move. If you’re a beginner, a very shallow lunge is fine on these as we work with a deeper range of motion on other exercises in the programme. Adjust your form to fit the 20 fast reps style.

✔️ Everybody always enjoys it sometimes.

✅ Single-leg squats are kind of a big deal in The Strength Sessions.

‼️The reason: they far easier to learn and more convenient than many other traditional weighted leg exercises, they load the spine less (which is ideal for anyone not highly trained or susceptible to back issues), yet they still deliver a compelling demand to your muscle things to produce some serious force…and that it what makes those muscle things adapt.

I’m not claiming they are any better or worse than many traditional gym moves, but for many, they are easy to learn, they are safe, and they will produce a serious stimulus on par with using a fair amount of weight on other stuff. You get can stuck in and start getting serious results fast, and that makes them perfect for The Strength Sessions.

In the second half of the programme we focus on two variations of the Pistol Squat.

This month we hit The Platform Pistol — where we sit on a ‘platform’, a mat, a couch, a chair or a something else that is just the right height to allow us to just about perform the move well. Then we drive back up.

Next month, we enjoy The Rolling Squat — where we use the momentum of a little roll to allow us to complete reps from a slightly deeper position.

Basically we are training two slightly different variations of the same movement. This allows us a two-month training block, but where we get the excitement of a new way of doing them half-way through.

Mastering the single-leg squats takes a combination of strength and agility, as well as a winning attitude and will leave you with a strong athletic pair of legs that will be able to handle the rigours of modern life and many other athletic moves no problem at all.
