‘Twas the night before Rutsfest in Merton Park,
And all through the village, not a creature did mark
The subtle vibrations, the hum in the air,
Of anticipation building, a joy beyond compare.
The bunting was ready, the marquees stood tall,
For a day of great music, enjoyment for all.
The sound checks were done, the stage gleaming bright,
Ready for bands to fill morning with light.
The children dreamt dreams of the bouncy castle’s high bound,
Of ice cream and candy, sweet treats to be found.
The grown-ups, of craft beer and Pimm’s in the sun,
Of dancing and laughter ‘til the day was all done.
The forecast looked promising, a blue, sunny sky,
No hint of a downpour, no cloud passing by.
From Bushey Road up to the common so green,
Excitement was buzzing, a tangible scene.
For Rutsfest, beloved, a highlight each year,
Brought neighbours and friends from both far and quite near.
A day to connect, to let spirits run free,
A true community moment, for all eyes to see.
So raise up a glass, though the morning’s not yet,
To the fun that awaits, a day none will forget.
For tomorrow, dear Merton, the celebration will start,
And Rutsfest will once more capture each heart.

The long overdue return of Bloom at the Old Ruts. The band last performed at the club during their time at Rutlish School. Now they’re back. Please join us for a great night of music.
