BUCS Round-Up 🩡

Huge congrats to .x on making the BUCS National Semi-Final in her first outdoor championships running just 0.2 off her PB in tough cold conditions. Big step forward.

Shoutout to .track for making the BUCS 100m final and helping his 4x100m Birmingham team secure a silver medal. Quality performance.

Massive appreciation to Coach Lee and Coach John for their support all weekend. I’m happy to get to work and support them as we keep pushing this group.

Big respect to our captain for leading the squad with calmness and professionalism throughout the weekend.

Proud of the entire St Mary’s squad. A university record of 41.6 in the 4x100m heat was a standout moment.
The final didn’t go as planned, but we own it, learn from it, and move forward the right way:
β€œFor a just man
falleth seven times, and riseth up again..” – Proverbs 24:16

Especially as a Christian university, our values are built on unity, humility, and resilience and the team showed that. Proud of all the members. Footballers miss penalties, boxers get knocked out this is sport.

We learn together. We grow together. We Win Together Zero losses. 🩡πŸ”₯

SEASON OPENERS πŸ“ŠπŸ”₯
open - big thanks to Coach TJ and the team for hosting a quality meet 5️⃣⭐️

300m
Shawn Bell – 35.77

Massive drop from his 2021 PB of 38.93 - big statement run πŸ’₯ especially after an underwhelming indoor season nice to bounce back. I’ve seen Shawn run many solid 4x400m legs so I was never in doubt!

200m
x – 25.41 PB (outdoor) (0.0w)
Fastest season opener + quickest outdoor time to date πŸ’¨ Previous opener: 25.69 (+3.0w, 2025)

Huge progression from his 2023 PB of 22.92 πŸ“ˆ

Down from his 2024 PB of 23.27 β€” controlled and confident πŸš€

Both men took strong wins in solid fields πŸ‘ŠπŸΎ

First BUCS Indoor Nationals πŸ‘

Massive congratulations to .x on making the semi finals and smashing her overall PB after three years, 25.36 (even easing off a few metres early). It’s been a real challenge and I’m extremely proud of her. One thing about Kyra is she’s a warrior. She gave everything in that semi and still produced a very fast time (25.53) lane 4 again. It’s been a great indoor season so far and there’s much more in the tank.

Big thanks to for letting me support the .trackandfield 4x200m squad featuring Josh Martin of . Proud to have been part of greatness in them securing the 4x200m bronze. One thing you know about me and Josh Martin if we’re involved in a relay, greatness usually happens.

London Indoor Games Highlights! πŸ…βœ¨
Tidy day for the squad.

x – Athlete of the Weekend.
What a story. What a turnaround. What a moment.
60m: R1 7.93 PB, R2 7.84 PB
200m: 25.75 Indoor PB – her 3rd fastest legal time ever.
Kyra has been through the fire since 2024. Injury setbacks, frustration, rebuilding from scratch. But she never folded, never stopped working, never stopped believing. To come out today and drop TWO PBs in the 60m and then an Indoor PB in the 200m… that is heart, grit and resilience. I’m genuinely so proud of her. She deserves every bit of this breakthrough.
Huge thanks to her support team: .wellness other coaches who have supported her massively over the past 12 months.

Jaleel – One of the standout performers today.
7.01 – just 0.01 off his PB and his fastest 60m since 2024.
Backed it up with 7.05 earlier this week in Newham. The consistency and confidence are returning. Thanks for the support with him

Gianni – Massive performance and huge momentum.
R1 7.09 PB, R2 7.07 PB (down from 7.17).
Improving at a rapid rate and showing what happens when talent meets discipline.
Also smashed his 200m PB, running 22.93 from lane 2.

– Another athlete on an upward curve this season.
R1 7.22, R2 7.25.
He has already PB’d this season with 7.15, so today is just a small dip. Still racing well and gaining sharpness.

Shawn – Clean progression.
R1 7.28, R2 7.25 SB.
PB is 7.19 β€” with more rounds and a couple adjustments, he’ll be right there.
Also ran 23.23 for 200m from lane 2.

Javon – Season opener 7.32, finishing 3rd in his race.
Looked strong and composed.
Withdrew from R2 due to a minor issue β€” nothing serious.

James (OG Harrier) – Great supporting him today. In coach absence
Huge well done on the 7.00 β€” competitive and composed.

What a weekend. The energy, the progress, the hunger.
The behind-the-scenes work is paying off and the squad is levelling up.
We keep pushing.

Happy with the performances from my squad however their is still room for improvements πŸ™πŸΏπŸ”₯πŸ’›

Greatful & blessed to see another year! πŸ₯³πŸ™πŸΏβ€οΈ
Thank you to all my athletes for trusting me with your careers. One of my biggest goals this year as a coach was to strengthen my individual relationships with each of you and I’m proud of the progress.
Big love to the coaches and mentors in my corner that support me to be better everyday

Another year, another chance to grow, to give back, and to help my guys level up.

U20/SEN Champs this weekend the grind doesn’t stop!

As a young Black coach from South London, before wraps up, I feel it’s only right to reflect on what this month means and who it’s really about.

For Black History Month, I want to celebrate the young Black and mixed athletes I coach and have coached. These young athletes have done incredible thingsβ€”from winning breaking club records to earning national nationals medals and excelling in school. They deserve to be celebrated and recognized for their talent, dedication, and resilience.

I didn’t step into coaching to be a role model, but I’ve come to realize that I am one. For some of these young athletes, especially those coming from challenging backgrounds, having a Black role model can make a world of differenceβ€”especially when they don’t have a father figure or older brother to look up to. Knowing I’m that figure in their lives drives me every day to give them everything I’ve got.

There’s a β€œbeauty in the struggle” when coaching in a place like Wimbledon. We’re in a unique spot, where once a year Wimbledon hosts one of the biggest sporting tournaments in the world. Just six miles in one direction, you’re in the affluent parts of Surrey or Central London; three miles in another, you’re in the council estates of Battersea, where some of these athletes have grown up. I see these young athletes as my little brothers and sisters. I’d do anything for them, which is exactly why, when they’re on the track, they don’t want to let us down.

Black History Month is about changing narratives. No matter what path these young people chooseβ€”whether they continue in sports, pursue fashion, music, or any other passionβ€”I want to see my little brothers and sisters on the back pages for their success, not the front pages for some crime.

A big shout-out to all the other incredible coaches supporting young Black athletes, pushing them toward a future they can be proud of. We’re all a part of something bigger here, helping to lift the next generation to heights they can be proud of.
