Est. 1913. The worlds only Abercromby/Colt golf course. Nine miles from Central London.

Located only 13 miles from the centre of London The Addington Golf Club is a world class golf course just waiting to be discovered. Designed in 1912 by John Frederick Abercromby (Aber) who was accredited as being 'one of the finest architects in all of golf', The Addington is a masterpiece of inland golf.

The arty side of summer's at The Addington.

While the 7th hole opened in May, there's still work to be done to complete the surrounding areas.

Course Manager Jonathon Taylor explains what's next.

Today, we celebrate our dream team.

Led by Jonathon, the team aren't just maintaining the course for daily play - they're doing it while carrying out restoration work at the same time. It's a lot to have on their plate, and they handle it superbly. They deserve every bit of the credit.

The 11th is simple on paper, but can be made endlessly complicated depending on where the pin sits and how many pints of Guinness you've consumed in the hut.

Just like The Odyssey, some courses are much better viewed on IMAX than the regular screen.

The restored 7th green isn't just a talking point, it's a target that demands genuine thought and strategy when the pin sits in the back half, as Frank Pont explains.

The cascading 16th is an impressive tee shot overlooking London, but the fun of the approach can often be overlooked.

The semi-blind nature of the shot makes golfers uncomfortable and draws the eye to the huge hollow on the right. A great example of the danger being visible and the ideal line being obscured.

Sunrises here have never been better.

Tree removal ensures light fills the course from dawn to dusk, benefiting not just the aesthetics, but agronomy and playability as well.

Sometimes less is more. JF Abercromby was known for his sparing use of bunkers, and added them over several years having watched people play the course over and over.

We only have 37 of them. Enough to invoke strategy into approach shots, but few enough to ensure the golfer faces a multitude of options across interesting ground when missing a green.

The scale of the restored 7th green has to be seen to be believed.

But one thing's for sure: it's so much fun to play.
