Author Spotlight: Buchi Emecheta (1944–2017)

Today we honour a true pioneer of Nigerian literature. Known for classics like 'The Joys of Motherhood' and 'Second Class Citizen', Emecheta’s work explored the intersection of motherhood, independence, and the immigrant experience. Her legacy continues to inspire generations of African female writers. Have you read any of her books?

"Protect the time and space in which you write. Keep everybody away from it, even the people who are most dear to you." : Zadie Smith.

Whether you’re drafting a novel or a business book, your ideas need room to breathe without "quick questions" interrupting your flow. That deep, immersive state where stories happen is fragile: did you know it can take up to 20 minutes to refocus after just one distraction? πŸ“‰

Setting boundaries isn’t about being mean to the people you love. It’s about respecting your craft enough to give it your full attention. ✍️✨

How do you protect your writing space?

🟒 A "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door?
🟑 Turning off your Wi-Fi?
🟒 Waking up before the rest of the house?

Share your best tips! πŸ‘‡

If you’re struggling to claim your space or feeling "stuck," let’s chat. At Accomplish Press, we specialize in helping writers overcome obstacles and turn their dreams into reality.

Ever felt instantly at peace in an old bookstore? That comforting scent has a name: Bibliosmia. πŸ“š

It’s not just magic: it’s science! As paper ages, compounds like lignin break down, releasing organic scents similar to vanilla and almonds. Since vanillin is often associated with comfort, your brain responds with a sense of nostalgia. It’s like a chemical hug for your mind!

Whether you’re writing your first draft or reading a classic, that scent reminds us of the timeless power of stories.

Are you a fan of the "old book smell," or do you prefer the crisp scent of a brand-new release? Let us know!

If you’re ready to turn your ideas into a published book, we’re here to help you get unstuck and share your story with the world.

Hello aspiring writer! Do you feel like you need to know exactly how your story ends before you even finish chapter one? ✍️

We often feel pressured to map out every plot point and mystery before we feel "ready" to write. But being comfortable with the unknown is actually a writer’s superpower.

When you embrace the unknown:
🟒 Your characters can surprise you with their choices.
🟒 You discover subplots you never would have planned.
🟒 Writing feels like an adventure, not a chore.

Next time you hit a wall, take a breath. Stay in that mystery and let the story reveal itself in its own time. You don’t need all the answers today to keep moving forward.

Ready to get unstuck and finish that manuscript? We can help you navigate the journey. Check out our coaching programmes at https://accomplishpress.com (Link in bio)

Are you the type of reader who needs every loose end tied up with a bow, or do you prefer a story that lingers in your mind long after the final page? πŸ“–

Welcome to our "This or That" challenge! Today, we’re talking about the part of a book that sticks with us the most: The Ending.

✨ Option A: The Happy Ending
Everything works out, the hero wins, and the sun sets on a bright future. It’s satisfying, uplifting, and gives us that "feel-good" glow we all need.

✨ Option B: The Bittersweet Ending
A mix of victory and loss. It’s realistic, hauntingly beautiful, and often sparks the deepest reflection. It might break your heart a little, but it feels incredibly human.

As writers, deciding how to close a manuscript is one of the most powerful choices we make. Does your story demand a celebration, or a quiet, thoughtful farewell?

πŸ‘‡ We want to hear from you! Which do you prefer to read (and write)?

🟑 Happy Ending
βšͺ Bittersweet Ending
