For adults who want to swim more efficiently be it for fun, for fitness or for racing... This would have 2 advantages.

Founded in 2007, Red Top Swim was created by two swimmers with two very different backgrounds. This vision was unique, yet simple: 2 coaches, 1 on pool-deck and 1 in the water. Firstly, technical drills could be explained and then actually

Open Water Sighting Tip:

• Lift your eyes, not your whole head. Stay streamlined. • Sight forward quickly, then return your eyes to the water. • Check your direction regularly. A straight line is the fastest line.

Beach Start Tip for Open Water Swimming: start under control, stay slightly wide to avoid chaos, and protect your space during the first contact-heavy meters. A clean start is often a smarter start.

A mixed series of moments from our Red Top Swim cold water training camp in Opatija, Croatia 🌊🇭🇷

Night swims 🌙, open water sessions, technique work 🎥, long aerobic swims and plenty of time spent adapting to cold water conditions together as a team.

Conditions throughout the camp were challenging for training:

Sea temperature: approximately 14–16°C 🌡️

Air temperature: around 12–16°C

High humidity typical of the Adriatic coast 💨

Moderate wind and variable sea conditions during some sessions 🌊

Perfect conditions to build both physical adaptation and mental resilience for the upcoming open water and channel swimming season.

A big thank you to everyone who joined the camp and brought great energy, motivation and team spirit throughout the weekend.

Mission complete. 3h 49m 🌊🔥

In just 3 hours and 49 minutes, the Red Top Swim team successfully crossed the Strait of Gibraltar, from Tarifa 🇪🇸 to Morocco 🇲🇦 — one of the most iconic and unpredictable open water crossings in the world.

Conditions on the day (today):

🌡️ Water temperature: ~16–17°C
🌡️ Air temperature: ~17–20°C
💨 Wind: 10–20 km/h (typical Strait crosswinds)
🌊 Sea state: slight to moderate chop (0.5–1.2 m waves)
💧 Humidity: ~60–75%
🌤️ Weather: mostly sunny / partly cloudy
🌅 Visibility: excellent

This wasn’t just a swim.
It was a battle with currents, wind, and the open sea.

From Europe to Africa.
From Tarifa to Morocco.
A crossing full of energy, teamwork, and determination 💪🌍

Respect to the team. Huge achievement.

Recovery is the most important part of cold water swimming. Dry off immediately, cover your body, and warm up gradually. Shivering is completely normal — it’s a physiological response and can last even over an hour.
