Taking note of the good things that have come my way this week. Big shout out to the studio team, front of house and other instructors for the BXR promo drive at the start of the week. 2 things I noticed.... It was fun and people in Canary Warf are busy.

PT clients you were all so great and I'm thankful for your time and energy.

Class: COMBAT HIIT - endurance
What is it: A split class. 50% strength and conditioning (KGs & bodyweight) and 50% bag rounds (punches, kicks & elbows inc.)
For Who: Everyone! First timers and old timers welcomed.
When: Perm slot is Wednesdays 6pm and look out for cover classes.

As I mature as a trainer and as a person, I am really celebrating my own light 🌠. I work hard, I help others and I fu***ng love my job. I know my value and my skill in this industry. I look to others to keep inspiring me and to never stop growing. I give credit where credit is due and call out the system when there is undeniable injustice. The fitness industry has taken a beating the past few years, our work as professionals has been undercut and devalued by social media, the pandemic smashed through it and left us with little to hang onto and the big money making machines will continue to sell you s**t that you don't need, diets that don't work and bodies that are designed by photoshop. I will continue to fight the good fight (litterally πŸ₯Š) and now more than ever, I'm doing it my way. πŸ’–

Antagonist/Agonist Supersets???
-
From the Greek antagōnistΔ“s, from antagōnizesthai, β€˜struggle against' - we get the anatomic defination, 'Two muscles that work to conteract each other.'
-
Agonist muscles refer to the muscle that is contracting therefor the muscle that is relaxing or lengthening is called the antagonist.
-
Agonist Superset - 2 exercises that work the same muscles back to back.

Antagonist Superset - 2 exercises the work opposing muscles back to back
-
They are useful for training one set of muscles (the agonist) as the other recover (the antagonist) , whilst strengthing the eccentric and concentric ('up and down or in and out etc') phases of the movement as you alternate the two. In the instance of an agonist superset it allowes you to add more stimulus through the muscle but in a differnt way. They help to create time efficiency for your sessions and allow you to make your sessions more metabolic (anabolic strength +aerobic cardio = higher output). The downside is that if you are spreading your effort to thinly across 2 exercises then you may not gain the the maximum benefits to an isolated straight sets i.e. More specific mental focus, potential to complete more or heavier reps and therefore less stimuli on that particular muscle.
