The time has come and the countdown to reopening is over and we open our doors at 6am on Monday April 12th.Are we ready for the big day? Start

Smart’, ask the PTs for their advice on best way to start back at the gym.
Like us, if you have missed the atmosphere, routine and inspiration that our gym offers you, the wait is over. Yes, it’s exciting, but please be sure you don’t rush into this and hurt yourself, pack your bag the night before and be sure you have everything you need prepared in advance.

Hopefully, over lockdown, you have been able to keep up an active routine. We recommend easing yourself into exercising again. Allow yourself to re-establish the feeling of force and tension you will be placing on your muscles, ligaments, and tendons.

We understand how tempting it is to hit the weights hard or try and keep up with your pre-lockdown personal bests, however, the reality is this likely isn’t possible and you may end up injuring yourself. Of course, there will be some initial aches and pains (known as DOMS) but you know you will soon adapt to this again.

Your Team are here for you stop and have a chat with us, train with us and don't be afraid to spot us - we need to ease back in to training just the same as you do!!

If you are anxious or unsure of how to approach restarting at the gym, please chat to your team at thegym. This may be advice on warming up, how to plan your workouts, or even easy workouts you can use to get back to regular exercise.

With all the current rules in place and the changing goalposts, this will lead to frustrations due to the lack of control you have.

We work alongside the guidance provided by experts, today we are happy to announce that exercise mats have been authorised to be put back into circulation, provided we all follow the rules advised for your safety.

Whilst workout mats aren't necessary, but many people prefer them. There are plenty of workouts you can do at home or in the gym without at mat but using one has benefits,

Cleanliness

Some people don't mind getting a little dirty while they workout, but if you'd prefer to keep a layer of protection between you and the ground, a mat might be right for you. Of course, you need to clean it off after use, or it won't be much cleaner than not using one.

Comfort

Using a mat provides some extra padding between your body and the ground, which is especially useful to those whose wrists, knees, or even hips are sensitive to hard surfaces and heavy loads.

Space

In most classes, an exercise mat serves as a separation between your personal workspace and the space of others. Any equipment needed for the workout can be placed tightly around the mats to make room for more exercisers.
