🇪🇸 SPAIN WILL DECIDE: IS THE SÁNCHEZ ERA COMING TO AN END?

After more than eight years in power, Pedro Sánchez has finally called a snap general election for 29 November following another major parliamentary defeat over his government’s housing measures.

His record will now face the electorate: a worsening housing affordability crisis and mass demonstrations; intense pressure over migration and Ceuta; and a succession of criminal investigations and court cases involving senior PSOE figures and members of Sánchez’s own circle. His wife, Begoña Gómez, is due to face trial, while other former senior allies have also faced serious judicial proceedings.

Crime and women’s safety will also be part of the debate. Spain’s Interior Ministry records continuing concerns around sexual offences, with reported sexual assaults increasing again in 2025. These figures deserve scrutiny without turning correlation into unsupported claims about their causes.

Whatever your politics, 29 NOVEMBER belongs to the Spanish electorate. Sánchez is asking Spain for another mandate. His opponents are asking voters to bring an era to an end.

From Wednesday, if you ride in Spain, the rules of the road change.

Royal Decree 518/2026 comes into force on October 1, and it rewrites the cycling section of the General Traffic Regulations for the mainland and the Canary Islands. The most visible changes are two.

Helmets outside built-up areas become mandatory with no exceptions. The old carve-outs for long climbs, extreme heat and certified medical grounds disappear. Ride an interurban road without a helmet after Wednesday and you can be fined up to 200 euros. Under-16s continue to wear helmets on every road, and professional riders working by bike get an added obligation to wear a reflective vest.

Cyclists are also encouraged to ride toward the centre of their lane where safety allows, rather than hugging the edge. The purpose is straightforward. If you are on the edge, drivers feel invited to squeeze past. If you are in the middle of the lane, they have to actually overtake you.

The reform loads more onto drivers, too. Outside towns, overtaking a cyclist means dropping at least 20 km/h below the posted limit and, on multi-lane roads, changing lanes fully. Inside towns, drivers must keep at least five metres behind a bicycle in the same lane. The 1.5-metre lateral clearance stays.

Anyone flying into Mallorca, the Canary Islands or the Costa Blanca for an autumn training block needs to know these before rolling out on day one. The rules apply whether you are a local commuter or a visiting racer. Wednesday is the switch.

🇪🇸 IS IT TIME FOR A GENERAL ELECTION IN SPAIN? 🗳️

Pedro Sánchez has suffered a major parliamentary setback: Congress rejected both government housing decrees on Friday—178–172 on the first and 184–166 on the second.

Now the political question dominating Madrid is what happens next. Cadena SER reports that an early general election is among the possibilities being discussed, although no election has been called and Sánchez is assessing his options after the defeats.

Spain now faces a consequential debate over housing, parliamentary support and whether this legislature can continue. Should Sánchez continue trying to build a governing majority—or should Spaniards return to the ballot box? 🇪🇸🗳️

Professional international stage racing is heading to the islands with the Vuelta Ciclista a Canarias 2027 — four stages across Gran Canaria and Tenerife from 14–17 January 2027.

And this could be only the beginning.

Organisers are already talking about expanding future editions to six stages, potentially bringing Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro into the race.

The Canary Islands have long been a winter training destination for professional cycling. Now they’re preparing to put that terrain on the international racing calendar.

🚨 THE “20 MILLION” 🇬🇧 SOCIALISTS WOKE UP??!?…

Imagine nearly 20 million people whose household income is connected in some way to the state — public-sector payrolls, civil service, quangos, pensions or welfare — waking up to another week of headlines about terrorism, national security, public spending and Britain’s future.

But lumping all of those people together as “socialists” would miss the bigger question:

🇬🇧 Has Britain become too dependent on the state?

💷 Who ultimately funds an expanding public sector and welfare system?

🏛️ Can government spending keep growing faster than the productive economy supporting it?

🗳️ And when voters fundamentally disagree with the direction of government, how should that disagreement be settled?

The state doesn’t create the money it spends — taxpayers and the wider economy ultimately finance it.

Whatever your politics, Britain’s economic and security choices deserve scrutiny based on the numbers, the evidence and democratic accountability.

The facts are attacks are planned and likely.
Covering them up if they are intercepted early isn’t great news.
False flag events, aren’t great news.
The US being more transparent than the Socialist UK Government isn’t great news.
Would you believe a simple diesel theft gang gone wrong story, nothing to see here Gov.
Was a dry run final terrorist event intercepted too soon, how did allegedly up to ten individuals get away!

From 𝟭 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, Spain is introducing stricter rules to provide greater protection for cyclists.

Drivers will need to remember:

🔹 𝗦𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴
On interurban roads, you must travel at least 𝟮𝟬 𝗸𝗺/𝗵 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁 while passing a cyclist. On a 90 km/h road, that means overtaking at no more than 𝟳𝟬 𝗸𝗺/𝗵.

🔹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲
The minimum sideways distance remains 𝟭.𝟱 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀. On roads with two or more lanes in the same direction, you must move completely into the adjoining lane.

🔹 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀
Drivers must leave at least 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀 between their vehicle and a cyclist travelling ahead in the same lane.

🔹 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲
In urban areas, cyclists will generally be entitled to ride in the centre of their lane rather than being forced close to the kerb.

🔹 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆
This includes marked cycle crossings, vehicles turning across a cyclist’s path and groups of cyclists already entering a junction or roundabout.

🔹 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝘄𝗼-𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀
Councils can authorise this on single-lane roads limited to 30 km/h or less, but only where it is specifically signposted.

⚠️ Serious breaches can mean a 𝗺𝗮𝘅𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗺 €𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀.

Some protections, including the 1.5-metre passing distance, already existed. The major new requirements include 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 and 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 in urban areas.
