A big happy birthday to big brother Sifu Master Brian J McKinney. A true master of the arts including life. Always so grateful for the friendship and guidance received from Sifu. From the first time I saw this man in person, something drew me to him like a magnet and I had to introduce myself at Master Colwell's memorial.
Then O'Sensei Alfie Lewis took me to meet him at his dojo in The Wirral. My experience that day and onwards has always been enlightening.
Then bestowing me with the honour of making me a member of the Chivalaric Order Of The Honourable Warrior in August 2025.
The ceremony and induction of this was truly humbling for me and personal to me that even though my friend was given permission to film it, I didn't want it filmed as I wanted it to be just for the moment of those present and between me and Sifu. I don't call anyone Sifu or Sensei casually, only those I have the hIgest respect for. This is one man that if I could be in his presence more, I would be. He exudes love, Compassion and humanity of a true warrior and in my eyes and heart, a true Warrior Sage.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIFU JI.πŸ™πŸΎβ€οΈ

Back in the teaching days.
A drill that I have to join in with to make effective. No power using the paddle pads , just maybe a sting if you get caught.

These guys are beginners and it's a new drill for them, so I have to take them through the pads to make it effective.

Teaching

To those whom it concerns and have any interest.

After much thought and feelings on this, I have made the decision to stop teaching public classes after 19 years from when I began
So much has gone on in my life with regards to personal things that at many times the balance has swung more to the unpleasant side more than anyone would want BUT my constant has always been my spiritual path, my family, my close friends & martial arts, the teaching was my crutch and was always there to keep me in the loop for when I knew I would have times of doubts or distractions from the martial arts.

I feel it has come full circle and have decided to now retire from teaching to continue back onto the path of my heart, personal development in the art of my self and life.
May sound a little selfish but I am a fighter, I started martial arts to be the best I can and since teaching, I have not felt the same and it distracted me from my personal goal.
It has served it purpose both spiritually and personally, I have met some great people and some As****es through teaching (mainly parents) and I will always share my knowledge in various mediums but no longer teaching beginners and no longer in a class format.

I will still be available for seminars (contact me personally) of helping out my teacher friends if any one is interested in me Sharing the knowledge of my training but this time has allowed me to delve back into the magic of my personal single minded training time and want to say a big THANK YOU to all that have been part of my journey along the way.

The chapter is coming to the end and it has all come full circle.
πŸ™πŸ½πŸ˜Ž

It is funny that my research revealed to me the name VIRAVIDYA to me only last year to term my journey. This I will share for as long as I can.
It translates as "Science Of The warrior" also "Path Of The Hero". This is my story , this is our story.

THANK YOU ALL, PARENTS , STUDENTS, FRIENDS & FAMILY, PAST & PRESENT.

I can go back to being a full time student of self and life with less distractions.πŸ™πŸ½β€

Keep things simple and move in the direction of your heart, to do that, you must first learn to listen to it. The true self, not the ego self.

LOVE ONE AND ALL.

NOW is the time.
Don't ponder about what you are going to do when this all calms down or we are past it's do something now!
Learn something with online courses.
Practice more of that which you love at home.
Spend time with family more and get to know each other at a deeper more loving level.
Find different ways of doing the same thing.

Then when you are fed up of all that....sit down at a quiet time and place, find a guided meditation that suits you, many on YouTube, close your eyes and relax.
The most easiest thing to do for the body but the difficult for most of our minds.πŸ™πŸ½

You will never know until you tread the path.
Do this daily a few minutes at a time, using guided meditation helps keep focus.
Slowly build up the time and learn to relax and slowly enjoy it.
First 1-2 weeks can be difficult.
Just tell yourself z no matter what no excuse , you are sitting down for your self a minimum of 5-10mins and let it build up.
In the beginning you have to trick your mind and that itself is tricky but in time, the mind will become accustomed to it and will become part of you, just like sleeping.

Be master of your self.

Home Dojo training.
Video tutorial.
JUMP SPINNING BACK KICK

31/03/2020

A short introduction video I made for my students to introduce them to my home dojo, where all my videos for on line tuition will have to be made.
This is just 35 secs of an 11minute video I will be sharing with them πŸ˜ŽπŸ™πŸ½.

Very few people have a dedicated training space at home.
Ever since I bought my very first canvas rocky boxing bag from my own money at age 11 1/2 from argos, I hung it in the cellar of my grandparents house and use to hit the bag. From that day on, I have never been without some form of training equipment at home.
As a teenager I had my weights, bench, exercise bike and made my own wing chun dummy from hard material fabric empty rolls all in my room and my boxing bag hanging from the garden swing frame.

I always visions having a dedicated traditional style home dojo.
I don't like fancy stuff when it comes to training, I like it a bit gritty so as to keep my edges a little rough πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ŠπŸΎ
Very easily one can get soft in mind and attitude with their training, surroundings make a difference.
Rocky 3, Apollo creeds old school boxing gym style mentalityπŸ‘ŠπŸΎ

In times like these, one appreciates a home gym and dojo.
I have always trained best in solitary and then tested my skills in sparring or at the club and relate it to the streets and life.
