I don’t mind him stealing my lunch seeing as he cooked it … teaching kids to have a good relationship with food isn’t just about eating. Enjoyed cooking this with Ted even if I didn’t get to eat any… so that’s 2/2 I haven’t eaten! .tables 👀

Controversial post coming up….

Heart rate training and what do you know about it…

With a lot of people training for Hyrox at the moment I hear a lot of people talking about zone 2 training and how they have been told to stay in zone 2 to get fitter for Hyrox…

A. Majority of people can’t run and stay in zone 2 for a prolonged period of time, which is the key to this type of training… Hyrox involves a lot of running so therefore people want to run… 🤔

B. All the events in Hyrox are designed to be a challenge on your body… if we start challenging your body your HR goes up… well above zone 2… so you can’t do those… 🤔

C. Zone 2 training requires sessions that are a long in duration and more than one a week for the best results yet most people don’t spend long enough in zone 2 during one session 🤔

D. Do you constantly monitor your HR during training… I don’t mean during breaks of high bouts of intensity… I mean whilst you are doing those high intensity intervals 🤔

E. And probably most importantly zone 2 adaptation takes a number of weeks (we are talking at least 2 months) of training for the body to adapt and for you to see the benefits of and yet with most people schedules nowhere near enough time is spent in zone 2 to actually see any benefits at your Hyrox event 🤔

So in summary …. the training you are doing for Hyrox doesn’t keep you in zone 2… it takes too long to see the adaptations from the time scale you have… your not monitoring your HR enough to ensure you are staying in zone 2 for prolonged periods to adapt to zone 2 training… 🤔

Now here comes the controversial bit… you are wasting your time training Zone 2 for Hyrox once a week 2 months away from the event with the workouts you have seen on the internet… 🤔🫣
